You say that you spoke to Spark do you have any proof of this if so
could you please share the contact number(s) because the ones I have have been cut off and I dont think thats true because Spark shutdown in July 2006/7 and they have NOT released any new DVD's

Most of there dvds have been crap I cant see the Blu ray being any better

Spark going into Blu Ray thats BAD NEWS God save blu Ray

Besides Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is/was a DEI BEI dvd for USA and APOLLO UK Apollo UK sold the BEI copright to Spark as Apollo were the sole copyright holders for this in the uk before them Tip Top had DEI copyrights I'm not sure if Tip Top had HDDCS

Tell them at least 1 thing we dont want Blu Ray like Spark
DIL CHATA HAI so what I'm saying is that they should not be using cheap media like thay have been doing with dvds

They also went by the name
Fair Deal Entertainment

And if you look at some of there first made dvds like Rakshak you will see FD DVD on the cover which means Fair Deal they have been Chors from the start

Sengh_15 do you have any contacts with them

No I dont

They used to be on the name of FD, Senco and Spark

If they do end up doing blu-rays I would like to see some of the old titles like Sadak, Kabzaa,
Naam and Naajayaz.

Plus these sound like new owners, Blu ray doesnt sound like the old spark

The reason Heyy Babyy is looking (apparently) good (have not seen it yet) is that it's brand new and from a digital intermediate source. That is the rare exception for all Bollywood films since the dawn of time that could be released in HD. Do not expect other Bollywood HD to look good because it's HD. There are unfortunately some technical reasons that most of them won't look good unless some serious money is spent on mastering.
There are hardly any mint film masters. Top quality requires that the camera negative is scanned. The negatives are mostly in bad shape since they were used for making release prints and/or stored in suboptimal condition (if not lost anyway). They are dirty, have scratches, tears, speckles etc and often bad edits that create scanning problems and flashing tops and/or bottoms. If used the color grading has to be redone and some serious digital clean up work is necessary. If done properly it's expensive. The market won't support this for now as a profitable enterprise.
If film elements are used that were made from the negative, even if they were made optimally and well preserved, you take a resolution hit compared to the negative. And finding such elements (well made, well preserved) is probably unrealistic for most Bollywood films.
If there are only prints around you can forget about good quality. Telecined prints look poor unless you really have state of the art equipment to get the most out of them.
Add to that all the things that can go wrong when subpar film elements are digitally processed to make them look 'better' in ways that make it all worse (the norm for most DVDs, Bollywood or Hollywood) (sharpening, grain reduction...).
Finally you need high quality compression which requires experienced compressionists working with top equipment, not some Mac and some 500$ encoder.
I expect new films and some from the last 2-3 years with a DI to look good to very good. I expect the rest to look mediocre to poor.
Hum Dil belongs to the second category.
Wel'll see.

OSO (DVD authored by Jet Speed Audio Mumbai) is good. The other DVD of OSO authored by whomever sucks.
