Another indicator, pointing to a proper DVD:

As Fred said, this DVD is in PAL. Properly done PAL DVDs should run 4% faster than NTSC DVDs. And, this Diaphana PAL DVD does. EROS NTSC version is listed at 184 min and Diaphana PAL DVD is 175 min. Give or take a minute and we have a 4% difference indicating same film length.

But they never picturized "Woh chand jaisi ladki", right? Why would they keep the song in the film for the French audiences and delete it for the Indian audiences?

Is it exactly the same version as the Eros-version? Didn't they cut some scenes? :)

Does Diaphana have an agreement with Eros? Maybe there will be a good DVD of Pinjar, Khakee, etc.

Don't even suggest that.

Two reasons:

1) If EROS uses Diaphana master, their DVD will be PAL to NTSC coverted and Field Averaged like ASOKA NTSC.

2) EROS Diaphana collabotration may go the wrong way. Diaphane using EROS standards.

Let Diaphana make their DVDs in PAL. All DVD fanatics, who value quality, know how to play R2 DVDs. For others, even a 10th generation VHS will do.

I know this aint directly related to the movie or anything... But when anybody else ordered from amazon.fr, did they also get an e mail which I think was about what courier they would be sending it with because it's international (I don't understand french)? I'm really confused as it was hard enough tyring to just get the bloody thing ordered in the first place! :bangbang:

So anyway, just wondering...

If anybody has got the DVD, whereabouts are you and how long did it take for it to reach you? I'm based in the UK and it'd great to get an idea of how long I'll be drooling for...

go to http://www.ne.chronopost.com/web/en/gro ... _ident.jsp

and use the track and trace using the tracking number. It is all in English.
If you need to translate the email that you got from amazon.fr, go to http://world.altavista.com/ and you can translate from french to english.

I have both Eros and Diaphana editions, and I didn't notice any different between the two except the incredible quality difference. So the song "Woh chand jaisi ladki" is present on the DVD the same way it is on Eros version.
I bought the soundtrack of Devdas and it's true that the track of "Woh chand jaisi ladki" is much longer than in the movie. But I've never saw the movie with this song as long as it is on the CD. And I saw the movie in theaters, at home with the Eros DVD and again with the Diaphana DVD. When I saw the film in theaters there were an intermission (real one with a beautifully written text saying "INTERMISSION" on the screen), French subtitles, the picture quality was even better thant the usual occidental movies, and the song we were talking about was present the same way as it it on both Eros and Diaphana editions.
