Recall 60s B/W film Sharabi starring Dev Annand and Madhu Bala. It had top lead stars and haunting Mohammad Rafi songs. Saawan Ke Mahine Mein and Kabhi Na Kabhi that don't even need any musical instruments to make them musical.

I got Shemaroo version of this DVD. After its initial release (perhaps flop) it had not been in demand for any reruns. Shemaroo must have sourced their DVD from whatever was available. Badly worn out print that even CC is barely visible. After the CC, beginning credits (lead actors) are missing but are on DVD on a blank White screen in bold B/W letters. DVD run time is 1 hr 57 min. Orig film must have been 140 min or more. Luckily, the songs seem to be complete.

Hit or flop, this film sure is a classical for its top stars and haunting music. It sure deserves to be restored.

JB, DVD songs listing and ultraindia song listing checks out OK except for the first 5 songs in ultraindia listing. Theymust be from some other film but in the same CD.

Sharabi was 1st LP that my family got in the 1960s, so I'm very familiar with all songs that wee in it. I don't recognize these lyrics. So, most likely this song is/ was not a part of this film.

Ok. I saw a song picturized Dev and madhubala. It was Shemaroo 101 silver screen stars. They didn't mention the name. I just made a guess. I think the song I'm talking about is in jaali note. I'll search for it, then I'll confirm.

Btw, Madan Mohan's songs are incomparable.

One more thing. Is the song 'Sawan ke mahine mein' in good quality (audio) in the DVD?? I have an audio cd version which is pretty unclear.

Confirmed! The song is 'Sach Kehta Hoon Bahut Haseen Ho, Tumse Mohabbat Ho Sakti Hai' by rafi & Asha. Jaali note.

Mohd Rafi's voice is dominating in all Sharabi songs and his voice alone is haunting music. Good quality Sharabi songs must be available on CD as I never heard a poor quality Sharabi song, including Shemaroo DVD. Yes, there was a time when un-authorised versions made from audio cassettes were around and the CD that you have, must be one of those ??

Maybe
That's a Madan Mohan cd I heard it in. The song could be cassette sourced. All other songs are clear with superb quality though.

There must be some problem with the source. However, the song has an introductory remark by madan Mohan and the beginning part of the song 'kabhi na kabhi kahin na kahin' is added in the background which comparatively is superb in terms of quality.

I'll try to obtain the song from a better source.

By the way, are you interested in Madan Mohan's songs?? There's an awesome compilation of his unreleased songs.

You'll love the album if you're a Madan Mohan fan. (that's what I am)

Are you interested??

I almost replied that I have MM CD. But, then I saw 'UNRELEASED' in your post and sure I don't have that CD. I'm interested.
