Does anyone of you have the DVD of Vettaikaaran (Vijay´s movie from 2009)?

Nowhere is mentioned if this DVD has english subtitles or not.

This won't be released on a proper DVD. The film rights are owned by Sun Pictures - who don't seem to care about the oversees home video market. The same can be said for the recent film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. Both films are massive hits. Its sad that Ayngaran doesn't have rights to them...I would have done these for blu-ray.

I believe Vinnaithandi Varuvayaa isn't owned by "Sun Pictures" but by "Red Giant Movies".
Ayngaran is considered leader in Tamil film distribution and Home Video market around the world; I believe Ayngaran can "afford" to buy the rights of VV and other films, even by persuading the producers to give the rights.

Vinnaithandi Varuvayaa is distributed in India by Red Giant Movies. They don't own it.

Though Ayngaran is still the biggest tamil DVD makers, they are no where in a position to get copyright for anymovies they want. With the way digital technology is growing and the minds (not vallet) of desi guys shrinking, there is no scope for any legal business anymore.

I can easily see Ayngaran vanishing in 2 years (Sorry Sunny), just like Tamilini or Pyramid or many other DVD makers disappeared, Sun Network expanding their distribution all over the world and all new movies would be made available for on demand viewing in HD quality - forget it. Sunny - move towards digital distribution. DVDs will soon find its place near where 5 1/4" floppy disc went :)

I got my Vattaikaaran DVD. It is a 2 in 1. As you can expect the picture and sound is awful.
Subtitles who were a bit off and no subs for songs. So why did they bother at all to put then a water mark on it
This is how you should NOT do it. And they already bought the rights for Suraa Image

I completely agree with you the tamil market is always slow to adopt technolgy... when hollywood went in the dvd path we were still hugging onto vcds.... and now we are still on dvds when the world is moving onto BDs.

I should say that Tamilini did a better job than aygaran. Their picture quality was better and they had dts when ayngaran was still producing DD DVDs. Sad that they closed down. Even their packaging is better. They had hard transparent plastic covers, making the dvds look classy. Ayngaran should relook at their cheap kind of packaging.

Also y dun we see any extra features on tamil dvds? like making etc... as far as i know goutham menon's kaaka kaaka and vetaiyadu villaiyaadu had extra features... such features will entice ppl to buy the dvds... SUNNY can ya look into this?

By the way has Ayngaran stopped vcd production? cant find them on their website

I was just wondering a Lotus five star, Suara, Adchaya, and few other companies related to Ayngaran? How is that almost after a month of a movie's release they release dvds in malaysia (either 2in1 or single releases) while ayngaran takes ages before a proper release? these companies produces bad quality dvds and i sure they will hurt ayngaran sales since they take such a long time for a proper release. Why this delay Sunny? cant they speed up?
