I wish some DVD company could pay tribute to Laxmikant Pyarelal. In my opinion, they were awesome. I love R. D. Burman's music as well. But L-P are very underrated.

Well, is there going to be any old footage, archival recordings, new information, analysis of his influences and impact, etc.?

A while ago Channel 4 in the UK had a special on LP. It was great - part of the Movie Mahal series.

Not sure about old footage or archival recordings (as such things are rarely preserved properly in hindi film industry, plus the guy who made this documentary is an amateur who made this with his own money...) But i did see a clip from this which showed some music director playing one of RD's melodies on the keyboard to demonstrate the simplicity of his compositions. Would need to see the whole thing to know more about it. But at this point we should just be glad that a documentary like this was even made, let alone release on DVD! There is hardly any commercial scope for documentaries in Bollywood so purchasing this DVD is a good way to show our support so more such docs are made in a better way!
