@mhafner...no, i hate sharp prints actually...i like details...there is a difference. i still need to examine the rest of the dvd9 first...to make a more accurate judgment of the whole DVD9 - but i do love the audio...

We all like details, so we like HD... DVD is never really detailed. Not enough pixels for that.
Check out the Blu Ray of "The Other Boleyn Girl". Details galore.

Check Pal version of OSO, you must have already! I am not comparing with HD/BR but a GOOD SD! I might be able to point out good NTSC hindi or English too, for comparison!till then jury on detail is out! :D

Are you sure the T-Series DVD is region coded? The reason I ask, is because the disc is encoded in NTSC and for it to then be locked to Region 5 makes no sense, since Region 5 is PAL. This could actually be a problem for some since not all Region 5 players maybe capable of playing back NTSC.

Ok! NTSC and BIT RATE averaging around 5MBPS is culprit for low detail and FLAT look, reason being Mr perfect ended up thonssing a lot of stuff on the same poor DVD 9! including his holly worded commentary! that took that perk out of main film, leaving it lifeless and flat looking!

Check your discs! This is called LACK OF UNDERSTANDING/COMPETENCY, BEING BULL A** head!

have you checked your discs? I think the average bit rate is 7MBPS on mine. Adding a commentary track is not really unheard of... ;-)

It depends how much bitts u give to your main movie! on a 90 minutes film, it might work.

main movie is 6.5GB with whooping ONE GB dedicated to AUDIO SOUNDTRACKS, leaving it with 5.5 GB to spare! similar to WEG dvds lol. Do you have dvd shrink? load it up and see info. Specially when there were supposedly 3 releases :? that is battorring from many sides  He could have left this as PAL that would be better 576 resolution. Disney would give NTSC proper and so do UTV. But imho, problems with 3 hours long films with multi track is not UNSEEN :(

or it might be problem with who authored it, used BAD SETTINGS  :(

on Taare Zamee Par, there's nothing like T-series and UTV dvds -- both are exactly the same same. The only difference may be in terms of the replicating agency... like Jet Speed versus Anant Electronics etc. for Shemaroo dvds / Eros dvds.

I am wary of laptop screenshots -- they don't give the true pictre -- at least my laptop doesn't, but here goes one directly from my t-series dvd and from my laptop -- don't have a jpg converter handy so uploading the bmp... can someone convert this for me?

Region-5 on the T-series dvd -- do you think Disney may have a hand in this?

The stills look decent. If you like it sharper use the sharpening of your player or display. Thank God there is no ugly EE on the disc.
My problem: I want the HD. The time of DVD is over for people that crave film like detail and a natural appearance without digital artifacts. (Not that HD guarantees that, as it can be screwed up easily as well.)
