New legislation has been tabled, in Canada, to curb piracy, downloading file sharing etc. Most likely, it'll pass eventually. Previous anti-piracy legislation was aimed at commercial outfits (very heavy fines in hundreds of thousands of dollars for each occurance) and was in-effective. New legislation is aimed at consumer level targetting downloads and file sharing. Fines are reduced from hundreds of thousands of dollars to a few thousands of dollars per occurance.

What do you think will be effect of this new legislation when almost everyone, including the law makers, is involved in dwnloading, copying, back-ups etc ?? Moreover, what good will it do when other countries don't have similar laws ??
