Folks,

Happy days are here again.

Yes, Excel Home Videos are expected to release the Shonali Bose’s critically acclaimed film AMU, starring Konkona Sen Sharma, in April this year... (An edition already exists in the market... Excel will release theirs in April 2008)

Here are some features we can look forward to:

English language track in DD5.1
Hindi language track in DD5.1
English Subtitles (expected to be very well written and not the kinds you would find on most Indian DVDs)
Writer-Director Shonali Bose’s Audio Commentary
Making of Amu
Deleted Scenes
Festival Q and A’s
Reactions: Indian Cinema
Interviews with Director

Cheers!
NewDeep

I saw the film 2day!

The film was very well made. Some gr8 intense scenes and brillant directed on the international level.

The DVD I have as all features that NewDeep has listed but 2 of them dont work. The subtitles are very dodgy. Its all fitted on a DVD5.

Also I would correct its not a English version but more of a International Version. Its a mix of English/Hindi/Bengali/Punjabi

Folks, this will be a single-disc housed in an amaray case with an outer sleeve (o-ring packaging) -- it looks like it'll see a release in August 2008

Shonali Bose deftly manages to balance searing historical drama with a rigorous, urgent sense of sociopolitical inquiry. The how's and why's of '84 riots may ultimately remain elusive, but Bose proves more than up to the challenge of such a daunting, problematic investigation.

the artwork on the front cover of the case of the excel dvd is the same as that here -- http://www.sikhchic.com/article-detail.php?cat=2&id=354

Sengh_15, do you have the dvd that's in the link above? Or a different one?

The back cover is slightly different on the excel dvd.

Sengh_15, what's the runtime on your NTSC dvd? The excel dvd says "crucial lines were cut by indian censors, all indicating the government's complicity in the genocide"; the back cover of the international dvd at http://www.sikhchic.com/article-detail.php?cat=2&id=354 also says "banned on TV, censored by the indian govt."

--

There's one release in Holland / Benelux too http://bollywoodwebshop.nl/index.php?ac ... 6da13cf9ab -- i hope this is not a pirated version. this site seems to have been awarded by the indian trade office (whatever that is) but also stocks dvds of jaane tu... !! and hence my apprehension abt pirated dvds on this site.
