I used to like this movie very much. Very good popcorn flick. Pure entertainment. I can't count how many times I watched this movie in theater. I recently procured this DVD and as Zulm does not have the screen shots I am in for this.

Amen to that! And MKD openly admitted that this movie was a complete fluke....simply amazing the way the action moves....i dont think there's even a single thing out of sync in this entire venture.....It also helped that all the lead players were at the peak of their creative energies....AB, VK & RK....and just as a SHOLAY can never be repeated, neither can AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY....

NB: screen shots look squashed because they have been captured wrongly. When capturing using powerDVD - set the capture settings to 'Current video window size' under Configuration->General->Advance->Capture

Anamorphic movies should always be a 16x9 frame or 1.78:1 and non-anamorphic captures should always be in a 4:3 frame – the above AAA screens are neither!

Ganti, what do you think of the PQ. In today's DEI-BEI thread Najjib has mentioned that he didn't like the BEI PQ??

Rana

P.S.
BTW, did you fix the AR of the above screen shots??

No, Rana I have not updated with correct screen shots. I will do that...
Although I have not watched the dvd, I think the image is grainy and has excessive EE when compared with other classic DEI disks like Deewar.

This is one of the best films that have ever been made of all time! It's such an entertainer. I didn't find anything wrong with the film. The acting was top class, the music was ace, and the movie as a whole was just wonderful. Sholay is also great, and for some reason, I felt as if I were watching a film from 2002!

The subtitles of AAA that I saw when I watched the film were done in Cairo, Egypt. It was lopsided, had Arabic and English, and sometimes, it would not have subtitles in some places. But besides that, great film!

I watched this during the weekend (actually BEI pressing, which is reported to be the same as their earlier DEI pressing).

In parts, the picture quality is quite excellent, and in other spots, less so -- I would say that the difference is the condition of the print (perhaps even differences between reels). The audio is not so great, but seems adequate throughout. Subtitles are the nice ones that are white with a black outline (preventing problems when they end up over white objects like shirts).

I thought that the movie was excellent, and quintessentially Bollywood, with an amazing series of intertwining "coincidences". It seems obvious that Shahrukh Khan must have watched this film many times while growing up, because so many of SRK's mannerisms can be found in Amitabh's performance in this film.

The DEI/BEI version is 2:54 and it seems some of the film is missing. Perhaps someone who remembers it well can email me with a brief synopsis of the missing part? (Email would prevent spoiling parts of the plot for other Zulm readers who may not have seen the film.) What happens (I'll be deliberately obscure) is that he is being operated on. Then, the DVD goes immediately to her and the two thugs driving somewhere (this is just before the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple scene). So, everything that happened in the operating room, and the scene(s) after that, are missing.

Rana

P.S.
BTW, I don't think there are any spoilers here. So, I will post my message here, unless some one objects.

Its the same in VHS.

kstuart, I think you didn't follow that scene properly. Its not the doctors, its the baddies, disguized as doctors, asking info from the un-concious man. In comes the blind lady, they recognize her and decide to kidnap her for the info. Next scene of course is driving.

Hi Guys, Need some help. I purchased the DEI print of this a couple of years ago. It has hardly been used, absolutly no marks. All of a sudden it refuses to play. Or if it starts it sticks.

I want to buy a new print, but am not sure which one to go for, TTE? BEI? Spark? GVI?

Any help would be necessary.

Also Can anyone advise where would be the best place to buy the shemaroo version of Lootmaar around the birmingham / midlands area in uk.

Thank you in advance.

Sythlord

That the BEI version is the same as the DEI is said above.

I have got the Shemaroo. The picture quality is quite good. Take a look: http://dvddeewani.blogg.de/eintrag.php?id=117
Unfortunately the sound is bad.
