Has anyone been able to acquire a working copy of Batwara by shemaroo? I've tried about three copies thus far but no luck, they all freeze on second layer. Just ordered another one, let's see what happens. Companies such as shemaroo really encourage piracy.

Okay sengh the king, I'll try to get you a few shots from a songs DVD soon.

------------------------

Jeet, that's really bad as Shemaroo DVDs are miles better than alternative versions. Try backing up a copy. Even try downloading untouched DVD torrents.

Jeet, reading your post, made me check (& back-up) my, still sealed, Shem Batwara that I had picked up early 2010. Luckily, it did back up, without a hitch. (PM me)

Batwara Film CC shows 5500 meters which is 200 min film time.

Don't know if theatrical release was same as film CC or was trimmed ??

Shemaroo DVD is Film to NTSC, 181 min run time (no 4% speed up).

------------------------------
Run Time Comparison with VHS and possible deleted scenes:

Time VHS is 174 min & has 4% speed-up, that comes out the same 181 min as in DVD. But, VHS has end creditas that run for 90 sec. So, combining DVD & VHS end credits, it comes to 182.5 min film time as compared to 200 min on film CC.
I suppose, theatrical release must have been trimmed to aprox 180 min, even though, print submitted to film censors was 200 min. Of the 17.5 min (200 - 182.5) discrepancy, some must be with scenes involving Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh. Film is the story of Thakur family whose head is Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh, his wife. Both were big name actors. But, Shammi Kapoor is totally missing, without ant logical explanation, from the last 35 min. Moreover, Asha Parekh role is really miniscule, not more than 5 min all together. So, my guess will be that in trimming the film run time to reasonable 3 hrs, they trimmed Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh segments ??

As with other DEI/ BEI DVDs that were also released by Shemaroo also, DEI/BEI DVDs that were Progressive turned Pseudo Progressive under Shemaroo brand. Run time of both is 3 hrs 13 min 09 sec (same as film CC 5306 meters or 193.5 min).

DEI main feature is 7.477 GB and Shemaroo main feature is 6.4 GB. This perhaps represents 17% more data in DEI while it needed 20% less, meaning 37% extra bit quality in DEI.

------------------------------

I edit added comments to my March 25 post above, regarding film run time, on March 27.
