3hr 26min length is not that much a big deal compared to others mentioned earlier. The topic is about the longest.

I have "Mera Naam Joker" VHS that's 225 min long and is not the full version. When released, MNJ was aprox or more than 4 hrs long.

Just to set the record straight:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4457&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=45

Picking bits from here and there, a 4 Hr 8 min Mera Naam Joker film length equivalent has been identified. Of this it's only 4 Hr 5 min that audio-video both have been identified. Orig M N J run time was 4 Hr 15 min corresponding to 6989.5 meters Censor Certificate.

YRF DVD even though only 224-225 min is equivalent to 3 Hr 54 min film length (4% speed up in YRF DVD).

----------------------

Comparing MNJ presently available and identified audio -video of 4 Hr 5 min, to LOC run time, presently avail on DVD, of 4 Hr 7 min (as mentioned in earlier post), it's LOC that's the longest available run time among Hindi films. But, if full 4 Hr 15 min MNJ can be found, then it's M N J longest runtime Hindi film.

"bigd" asked for citation for a 5 Hr M N J:

Running times

Many different cuts of the film are known to exist. Both the IMDb and the movie's censor certificate list the film's length as being 6989.50 metres (255 minutes). According to the Chicago Reader, the original running time was 5 hours , however this is likely an exaggeration. The international DVD release from Yash Raj Films Home Entertainment runs for 233 minutes (224 with the disc's PAL speed-up), while the Indian DVD by Shemaroo Entertainment is heavily cut at 184 minutes.

Wikipedia states a run time of 4 hrs and 40 min for a NTR Telugu film "Daana Veera Soora Karna".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daana_Veera_Soora_Karna
------------------------------

BTW, this site also states Mera Naam Joker run time to be 4 hrs 24 min that was later cut by 40 min. This statement sure is incorrect as 255 min M N J run time can be verified with 1971 cc. Also, their mention of 40 min cut in run time is assuming YRF DVD run time that's 224 min. This statement too is wrong as the 224 min YRF DVD run time corresponds to 233 min film time (YRF DVD is 4% speed shifted).

----------------------------------

Anyway, The Longest Run Time Indian Film honour thus goes to
"Daana_Veera_Soora_Karna"
at 4 hrs 40 min.

Jaadugar was intended as 5-hr film but in light of the competition from Toofan, a rush job was done to quickly take it to theatres in a 3-hr version which ultimately proved disastrous for both movies.

BTW, LOC-Kargil Eros 2-disc edition is fabulous.
