Yash Raj do not own film/DVD rights to K3G, they are only distributing the film for Dharma Productions on a commission basis. Its all about film politics, since Yash Raj and Dharma Productions have a close relationship no other company could ever distribute for Dharma Producitons (unless a phat sum is offered). The DVD will be done with Yash Raj. Put it this way at least it is not EROS or Video-Sound!

Due to the losses incurred on distributing 'Lagaan' and 'Mission Kashmir', Sony backed out of their verbal commitment to release 'K3G' overseas. It is because of this, that Yash Johar has had to turn to cousin Yash Chopra to handle the release of 'K3G'.
