Is the image on the DVD slightly vertically stretched, or it is just the screenshots?

It's just the shots - they've been captured at 720x480 instead of 852x480.

That 'K' is truly hideous and from the ghosting, this looks PAL-to-NTSC. Here's hoping Ayngaran's release wipes the floor with it - even if it's dubbed.

It will be intresting to compare this with Ayngaran's release. That version will be released within the next six months.

I guess Adlabs used a DI source, already supervised by Ratnam for the cinema release. However Ratnam didn't realise what a cock-up the encoding will be. I'll speak to Ayngaran sometime this week, and find out if they know how Ratnam feels about the Adlabs DVD?

Since the camera negatives have not been graded, it may be possible that Ratnam will re-visit them when they are being prepared for the Tamil/Telegu DVD release.

It has K all over!

I thought background was too overwhelming!
This is kinda movie, I cant say I liked it or not!

Occasional signs of Mani Ratnam's brilliance but non consistent direction.

Abhishek, no more BOZO!

Aish, exactly looks AAPAA JAAN with him! mani did work on her de glamorise looks but I liked her part in Raincoat than here!

Music, too many , too frequent songs.

Production values..lacking finesse.

camera work by rajeev menon was pretty good!

some sequences were done with pictures in the back ground including dances and also some public events.

I could not quite make comfort and familiarity that what era back drop mani sir was using for this film, that again, seemed very southish way directed to me? :? golf, cable cars, mbz cars etc etc.

I thought after all aryan babar got a good role but he disappeared like gadhe ke sar se seeng.

All relevant characters, like guru's baap, nanna ji, umma?, mahdevan, were hugely underdeveloped, mithun did do well, but his role and his clash with guru were not much emphasized.

I'll consider one of weaker films of mani sir, despite commercial success.

DVD had multiple horizontal streaks during one of the songs, for extended time, like static kinda effect.

Background was lousily overwhelming, dialogues were hard to hear! I thought might be my syatem but yest Salam e ishq played fine!

Do you remember any specific points where you had a hard time hearing the dialogue? I'll check those points on my system.
