So, you are saying that everything is fantastic in Eklavya but film doesn't click. This is in direct contrast to V V C's prev film LRMB where nothing is extraordinary but it works.


I have to diff with ali bhaii, all Don, Dhooms, Lakshya, Johar, yrf productions are possibly considered quality products if your criteria are applied man :roll:

I just watched BABEL, and I felt cheated and heavily disappointed, while, cinema, back ground a, acting etc is all A1, but it does not add it all somehow imho!

Imho, Parinda was best of 3, MK was second, Eklavya, down some where! right next to Kareeb.

Parineeta and munna bhaii even all clicked were not above those 2 VVC flicks imho.

nevertheless, i do not even think that this is the most finest performance of AB or Saif either.

I prefer seeing AB in Khuda Gawah over this any day!

If you have seen it your self, I would like to hear from you too, what level product you think, this VVC venture is????? :idea:

Agreed: I prefer Amitabh Bachchan's part in the first half of Khuda Gawah, as well. Nonetheless, I felt that Bachchan was great in Eklavya; I just felt that Eklavya, per se, was not much better than "good": as many seem to be saying, the movie just ended up falling short of expectations.

You were probably expecting too much. I thought it was quite good, but certainly not great. That's what happens when you listen to others opinions about a film, you may be expecting a masterpiece but when the film falls short of your expectations, you will be disappointed. But when it comes to bollywood, I'm usually still disappointed because most of those films fall short of the rather low expectations I already have for them. :roll: I was dreading Eklavya could be terrible but I gave it a chance and since it was better than terrible it wasn't that bad. Actually it had it's good and bad points. What was really bad was the film KANK, which I was also dreading may be a bad film but after seeing it, it was far worse than I could have ever possibly imagined. :x

I quite liked 1942 and would place it above MK, but agree Parinda is his best film. Eklavya is still better than Kareeb! But one scene that made me sick with Eklavya was when Eklavya was showing his knife-throwing skills with the bird. It's like VVC wanted us the be amazed with that scene that we would be in awe of Eklavya's skills, but the way it was shot looked so pathetic and laughable. I remember a white couple left the cinema just after that scene and I don't blame them.

I very much liked that scene. I agree, though, that expectations can have great influence over one's enjoyment of a film (or, really, of anything). I also feel that Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna fell short of my not-so-high expectations, though I didn't "hate" it the way some seem to have.

I would barely call it reasonable!! nothing more, that will be consolation to VVC. This movie is not of the calibre of film maker vvc is, neverthless he did make a dud named kareeb!

Oh I forgot 1942 , indeed all 3, Parinda, 1942, Mk are better than Eklavya, I thought VVC tried to feed a lot of AB flavored cheese through this film

I agree. It had no purpose in the story at all. The story itself is pretty weak. You would think that VVC would come up with something really extraordinary when he takes six years to write and make the film. Even most of the characters weren't developed well. I was disappointed too. The ending is so bad, while the movie actually starts off on a very promising note. Also, I think it's surprising when you make a movie that is not longer than 2 hours, yet it seems to drag. Vidya Balan, much like LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI, has no role of substance at all. And you could just delete Chanda re from the movie without missing anything.

Well, Mr_Khiladi, I liked it because I did find it exciting, and didn't feel that it "fell flat." On the contrary to low, my expectations from Eklavya were quite high; the film didn't meet them, but I certainly liked that seen very much. Again, I liked Eklavya; I just didn't "love" it.

Hasn't he already said he was disappointed with it?!

And I don't get how if the 'criteria' is applied, then Dhoom, Don and the Johar productions are quality products - all Ali has said is that the movie has been shot well, and looks like a quality product.

come on yaar!! if filmed well movies look like quality products then ofcourse criterias applied make those suckers quality products too.

But, imho, Eklavya has not been shot as well as VVC's previous films either!

It LOOKS like a quality product - look being the operative word. It's been shot well - Ali didn't say that the story and screenplay were of a high quality film. You can have a B grade film being shot well to look like a quality product - but it'll still be a crap film.

ive not seen it.. but all i can say is its only a film.. throw your Amitabh sentiments aside and judge a movie by its merits and not by Amitabh being in it.. quite frankly he is churning out some bullshit movies lately and no one can say they are decent.. look at baabul..
