Earlier, I'd heard that this film was to be released December, 2006; then, that it had been post-poned till January of 2007. I can't recall whether even the latter was then changed to Feb. of '07; does anyone have any news as to when Eklavya will hit theaters? Thanks. 8)

This trailer is been shown with screening of Bhagam Bhag in the UK at the moment. Can't be that long before the movie releases then.

Well... you never know. I think the trailers for the recently-released Aryan were given all over sometime during 2005, as well. Let's just hope nothing goes wrong with the release of Eklavya. I know it's not really uncommon for release dates to get moved around, but Eklavya's already been postponed twice now (by my count) (it was announced as hitting theaters in early December, 2006, then late Dec., 2006, then mid-February, 2007 [the current date]): I hope we don't end up with another Zamaanat — .

I agree that the previews of Zamaanat make it look like a disaster: just random clips sewn — glaring seams — together. Of course, I don't know what more anyone was expecting. Films that have been in the making this long (about a decade, I believe) almost never amount to anything more than utter incoherent garbage, and Zamaanat will likely not be one to challenge tradition. That said, I do still want to see it, of for nothing else, than an Amitabh Bachchan prior to "playing parts commensurate with his age." 8)

Eklavya was supposed to release in Spring 2006. Then, December 2006 was announced as the release date. So, it already has been postponed for more than half a year.

'Eklavya' gets clean chit from censors
By Taran Adarsh, January 3, 2007 - 04:15 IST
One keeps hearing of Indian censors clearing a film with 3/4/5 or more cuts, depending on what they perceive as objectionable in the film. But rarely, in fact very rarely, does a film gets past with a ‘U’ certificate [Universal exhibition], with not a single cut. In the recent past, Priyadarshan’s BHAGAM BHAG was okayed by the Central Board of Film Certification with ‘U’ certificate and no cuts and now Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s EKLAVYA – THE ROYAL GUARD has followed suit. It has been passed with a ‘U’ certificate and no cuts.

Incidentally, Chopra returns to direction after a gap of seven years, after MISSION KASHMIR. Will EKLAVYA go the LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI way at the ticket window, only time will tell. The film hits the screens on 16th February.
