Would it be 1080i or 1080p, mhafner?

Transfer is 1080p24 (all new HD transfers from film are 1080p24 these days).

so gen2 via hdmi or 360 HD DRIVE should play back , in 1080p via vga?

Don't know about VGA but HDMI will.

New HD DRIVE for XBOX 360 is 1080P capable but only through VGA at this time!

Is it possible to get screen shots from before and after the 'digital touch up' ?

Will probably be included in the making of. Farhan came in today and started color correcting precorrected scenes. The stuff looks great on CRT reference monitor.
Good news I heard too: Lagaan got a new HD transfer and has been cleaned up. Also, Don will be on HD from the DI some time. Looks great too. The industry is waking up to the possibilities of using DIs.

Its nice to see this project underway. Give Farhan our regards, and I wish him (and yourself) the best of luck on this HD-DVD project.

Does this mean that Indian DVDs are endorsing the HD-DVD format instead of the Blu-Ray format?

No. It means some people see the use of DI for making HD transfers out of them and even start making HD transfers of older films and clean them up. The release format is open (BR or HD-DVD).
DCH is cleaned by hand not with automatic filters so there won't be filtering artifacts a la Bollywood DNR DVDs. It's unfiltered unsharpened film look. And on the CRT it looks fabulous. On the JVC projector it lacks contrast. CRT is unsurpassed for image quality and reference monitoring.

What's he possibility that telecine industry in 50 Hz countries (India, UK et.el) will stick to 1080P24 and not use 1080P25 ?? If thed used 1080P25 or even 1080i50, then again they'll resort to Field Averaged transferring from 25/ 50 to 24/ 60 ??

Agreed.
And, the next best is --- ?? Plasma with 1920X1080 native res or LCD with 1920X1080 native res or Front Projector with same 1920X1080 native res ??
