Sequel to "The Jewel in the Crown," "Staying On" tells the love story of Colonel Tusker Smaller and his wife Lucy who chose to "stay-on" in India after the departure of the British Army in 1948. Clinging to memories of the India of the past, they are in effect, post-Colonial anachronisms.
