guys i would like to know wat u felt about the RDB DVD ...???

wat r ur views on UTV work ??..dont u think there earlier releases were better & better Mastering of the RDB DVD could have been done...

Pls Post ur comment & Feedback.....

Some of UTV releases have been mediocore, and some better. I don't think UTV knows why the difference. (In the past, another DVD maker was wondering too). Telecine is done by one party and authoring by another. There is a 50 % chance that authoring will be done @ 25/ 50 fps/ PAL ( remaining 50% chance that it'll be NTSC) and 99% that DVD will be NTSC (60 fps). Field Averaging when converting from 25/ 50 to 60 is the culprit.

DVD quality is not that bad on my plasma, shame there was no DTS option.

Personally... I wasn't a big fan of the film...it went over its head at times and felt hollow.

As far as I know the DVD has already been released here in India and it is by 'Sony & BMG' or so says indiatimes.com
http://store.indiatimes.com/dvd/PlanetMDVDDetails.jsp?videoid=vid5489
Also there is no mention of this DVD on the Excel site.

Sanjay is right. I just bought a copy of Rang De Basanti DVD.

Haven't watched it yet, but here are some specs...

Distributor - Sony & BMG Home Entertainment (Released Bride And Prejudice earlier)

Case - Amaray case inside a slip case

No. of discs - 1

Price - Rs. 499 MRP

Special features - Deleted scenes, trailers, song promos (not known yet if director's commn is there -- cover does not mention it)

Format and Runtime - NTSC "Over 162 minutes" (as mentioned on cover) -- it is 167 minutes approx.
Question - what is the UTV DVD runtime?
NOTE -- See http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classifie ... enDocument and http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classifie ... enDocument

Region - All

Anamorphic? - YES

Audio - Indian Dolby Digital 5.1; Indian Dolby Stereo Surround; International Dolby Digital 5.1; Commentary Dolby Digital 3.0

Subtitles - Eng, Tamil, Telegu, Kannada

Bonus - A foldout inside one side of which is an Aamir Khan poster -- the scene is of him riding the horse which is said to be cut from the film after a week in theatres.

Controversial scenes - Horse race is available under "deleted scenes"

Have started watching and will and try to post screenshots soon...

Unlike Excel who came out with an original take on Parineeta, the India Sony & BMG DVD appears to be the same as the UTV DVD. And that should not be surprising because UTV and Sony & BMG logos can be seen on movie posters... It does begin with the India censor certificate... does UTV DVD too show the India censor cert?

There's director's commentary (DD 3.0), and Indian (Stereo and DD 5.1) and International (DD 5.1) audio options.

TRY THIS -- Switch between Stereo and DD 5.1 audio -- especially during songs -- and you'll notice that the two sound different -- it appears that the two are recorded at different "pitch" --- AND in some scenes, the Stereo (when played through a Prologic decoder) sounds BETTER than the 5.1 ;)

The runtime of the movie on the Sony & BMG DVD is 2:47:43 NTSC.

The horse race scene appears to have been shown in theatres in India for the first few days. It appears to have been cut out later...

I still haven't figured out if that horse scene is in the US DVD? What is the difference between the Indian and International version anyway??

Since the horse scene was cut due to alleged animal cruelty, it probably won't ever be on any official DVD release.

About the U.S. DVD... I think the horse race scene is cut from the movie there too... (it is available under "deleted scenes" in the India DVD - and I guess in the U.S. DVD too...)

The difference in Indian and International is in terms of audio... Whenever there's commentary in the background (for example, when the British girl is narrating) it's in Hindi in the Indian audio (choice of 5.1 and stereo) -and- in English in the International audio (5.1)
