'Rang De Basanti' original DVDs to release!

By Our Correspondent ©2006 Bollyvista.com

The original DVDs of the cult film 'Rang De Basanti' are likely to hit the overseas market on or around March 15th. The DVD of the blockbuster promises to be quite a collector's item.

Interestingly, pirates are trying to pass off pirated versions as originals to customers through authentic packaging but any DVD procured before March 15th is a fake one. Sadly for the pirates, most of the pirated prints have pretty bad vision.

** Market is flooded with good pirate though!

just out of curiousity, there isn't any cover art or anything given--just wanted to make sure i pick up the right one and don't get screwed over. i doubt there's a good pirate...most of them are horrible. a few shops here were selling VHS copies and they sucked.

I saw Rang De Basnti in Cinema (London), and the narration in the film was in english. However when I saw the film on a DVD copy (Pirate, probably made in India), the narration was in hindi. As well as that the film had extra scenes like:
-Atul kulkarni torture scene in the jail
-extra song 'lalkar'
-lalaji getting killed in stampede by the british
-sukhi's death scene was partially cut in the one i saw in cinema

Did anyone else notice? Also the one i saw in cinema, in the song rang de basanti aamir khan is shown on the horse, however the pirate did not have that. I wonder which version will be on the dvd?

I noticed the same thing. I was very surprised to see Aamir Khan on the horse scene when watching it in cinemas.

I doubt they're going to make 2 different versions of the DVD (ie. one for overseas, one for India) so it may be the original indian version. However, its hard to say in this case

looks like it got delayed by 5 days, source bollyvista
The premium DVD pack of UTV's recent smash hit 'Rang De Basanti' is likely to release overseas (officially) around March 20th.

The DVD will be the uncut version of the film including the controversial bits. Those who already possess the DVD of the title obviously have the incomplete pirated version!

so does this mean it will have scenes that were shown in india and not overseas and scenes that were shown overseas and not in india?

I hope UTV do not cut corners like Parineeta DTS Indian version was better than overseas product!!

The pirated I saw was Single DISC with SP FEATURES!! and according to media it was leaked by one of the distributor!! It might be prog but will be compromised if ONE DISC only

I spoke to Tip Top today and they said it will be out on 24th Friday. It will be double disc and will be £18.

I hope this is accurate information from the guy who I spoke to.
