Hi Thomas, there is a rumor around here that Canadaflix is going out of business. My friend was in a shop here and he found a bunch of DVDs there and when he enquired abt them he was told that they were the DVDs of some Mr. Kumar (and this can be inferred Kshitij Kumar). Of cos this is just a rumor so I have no idea abt it...
If I get more info I can confirm it else, Kshitij Can confirm it himself

hey bunticlick (Thomas),

Kshitij hasn't emailed you yet whether he has received your dvd or not? That is so strange! :sly: Have you tried to contact him by phone?

Ever since i 've known him, i know when i dont have much order to place with him, he is travelling and doesn't find the time to respond to emails or return calls when leaving message on his answering machine. Man, you travel a lot!

I did buy number of DVDs from him, i got them flawlessly, as i made payment cash. Once i got a DVD by PEI (Post Entertainment), it didn't even play in DVD player, it plays and certain chapters it completely fails to read, Tried with many DVD players, as well as DVD-ROMs and fails to read those chapters. But guess what, in his DVD player it played smoothly (as it always does with the dealer's hardware ;)).

I was promised the refund regardless, but he never got the time to return my refund. I was going to buy more DVD/CDs from him, but now i dont hear from him. After several (approx. 5-6) MONTHs, when i emailed him regarding the refund, he gave me his address. Honestly, at that time i didn't have time to make trip to him to collect the money. So it took about 3 months after he gave me his address where i can get a hold of him to collect the money. As i went to him, i still didn't want the cash back instead another DVD, he can have the cash. but when i met him and reminded him about the Refund.

He is surprised to learn that he verbally agreed to give me the refund but never did what he said. Anyhow, at the end, i did get a DVD from him, and gave him the difference in cash.

Never heard from him again! Just wanted to share my experience. It is awful to have a service like that, Ready to collect, but dissapear when it comes to exchange/refund/queries. Bad Kshitij.

Well Canadaflix/Kshitij - No more queries that you would reply directly, but did you finally got the DVD from this bunticlick? Dont know about others, but i would definitely beleive if you say whether that the you received the DVD and plays fine in your DVD player, or that you received the DVD and already sent replacement copy, or that you never received the copy and you have your sources to prove that. Lets hear from you!

bunticlick - there are many different kinds of people on earth, you gotta have the patience and willingness to accept their existence. whether it's me or ..... :music:

Hi shuman,
i did not phone him yet and i doubt i wil do it in the future, i paid for the disk and the return postage (wich would have bought a cheap dvd), i won't spend any more money on this whole mess for long distance calls.
Over here in germany it is customary for a company to contact your customer once he has send back a faulty product and replace it, or at least inform him about whats going on with your problem.
I must admit i am a bit irritated that his buisseness behavior seems to be considered normal in the forum.
By the way the disks did not come from canadaflix in the first place but from:

India Weekly.Com
281 Spring St.
Chesire, CT 06410, USA

the return adress was

Canadaflix.com,
C/O Digibuster
281 Spring Street,
Cheshire, CT 06410, USA

as stated in the first post.
Therefore i won't order at India Weekly in the future as well, since i can only supect them to be in the whole setup as well.
This is sad, since i have not found a good mailorder service for indian films so far.
I do order chinese, korean, american, britsh, french and japanese DVD's frequenty but never experienced anything as unprofessional before.
Luckily i have found two tamil shops in berlin that carry original tamil DVD's and hindi bootlegs, so i will buy from them in the future, even if it means supporting video piracy.
I recently bought a copy of K3g from them wich was awful but they just took it back and gave me an original Ayngaran title instead.
Let 's hope other companys will follow Yash Raj Films and Tipps by distributing their titles thru the normal channels in england so they can be ordered from more professional companys as blackstar or bensonsworld (they offer all YR and some Tipps DEI titles at nice prices including shipping within europe)
If Lagaan gets an oscar today maybe more indian films will be published by Columbia, Universal,...
That would be the best solution in quality terms as well as in availability.
Greetings Thomas

Hi Thomas,

I just got back from India a couple of hours ago, and I want to set the record straight right away.

I personally sent emails to you while I was on vacation rather than letting my staff handle this, since I wanted to make sure this was straightened out.

I offered to replace the DVD with any title we stock - whatever the cost of the replacement title.

I mentioned to you that we have had at least one other customer whose DVD players did not play the Abhay DVD - seems to be some Quality Assurance problem with that DVD. Therefore, I offered to replace it with any other DVD you want, whatever the cost.

I also offered a full refund if you only wanted the Abhay DVD. I don't want you ending up sending the second DVD back too, since I want to avoid you having to spend any more money.

I have not received any replies to my emails - I could not send you a replacement since I did not hear from you. I was emailing from India, and maybe there were some problems due to the somewhat flaky web there, and I do sincerely apologize if that was the case.

Please email me personally with your choice, and I will ensure it gets sent out right away.

Sorry about this whole mess - I guess I should travel less
:)

Regarding local stores carrying Canadaflix DVDs, yes, that is part of our initiative to expand into the bricks and mortar space. No, we are not shutting down the Web store.

Sincerely,

Kshitij.

Initial batch of DEI ABHAY DVD had a playing problem and how to play this DVD was given on DEI site. I don't know if this was fixed in the later batches or not.

Folks,

To bring this saga to an end, I wanted to tell you what the resolution was.

I personally emailed Thomas a couple of times about a month ago, offering a full refund or any DVD (whatever the cost) as a replacement.

When he posted a reply to this forum, explaining that he had not heard from us, I repeated my offer in this forum. He has since kindly responded to me in private, requesting the movie Dil Chahta Hai as a replacement. (A good choice for a replacement, might I add!)

As per my offer, I sent Thomas a copy of Dil Chahta Hai as a replacement for Abhay right away. This was the middle of last week. I hope Thomas will receive the movie in the next couple of days if he hasn't received it yet.

Thomas, if the movie works fine this time around, please do post a reply in this newsgroup confirming that you have received the DVD.

I sincerely hope that things work out for you this time. I wish you well in life.

Believe me folks, a simple "I'm happy" from a customer is enough to make my day. Whatever it takes to get there.

Kshitij.

Hipp Hipp Hurray,
today i received my replacement copy of DIL CHAHTA HAI for ABHAY and therefore have to say "Canadaflix" is not cheating their customers nor stealing from them and i gladly apologise for calling them thieves.
It might have been an unlucky combination of incidents that created that picture and i wish them better luck with future customers.
I would suggest a more proffessional way handling customer relations though.
After more than a quarter of a year i am finally a happy person, not to speak of the friend who will receive the 2nd Dil Chahta Hai Disk as a gift.
Greetings to all of you,
Thomas
