Moondram Pirai = 3rd birth?

I am not so sure - if its 3rd birth it should be "piravi" not "pirai" , but then my tamil is not very good !

I think Pirai has to do with the moon - the Third quarter of the Moon

Image

This is the phase when the moon is half-lit

http://www.windows.ucar.edu/tour/link=/ ... moon3.html

After first quarter, the Moon would be a waxing gibbous, and continue growing until it reached full. The Moon would then begin to shrink, becoming first a waning gibbous and eventually reaching third quarter. Following third quarter it becomes a waning crescent, and continues to shrink until it becomes invisible at new Moon.

And i think in the movies context it probably denotes "Kamal/SriDevi relationship" , something that is equally shared but leading towards a doomed outcome ( the moon vanishes and so does their relationship)

Very interesting analysis. People also relate madness with fullmoon, since Sridevi had amnesia (and to some extent its kid of "mad"), may be it is called 3rd pirai. - WOW I am doing good here.

If its a new movie of current generation, Kamal must have met Sridevi on 3rd lunar night and probably Sridevi also left him on the same 3rd lunar night and thus the name.

If I'm not mistaken, it seems like both the Tamil and Hindi versions were shot back to back, ala Hey Ram/Mumbai Xpress. It's not dubbed, that's for sure.

I just bought the BEI version recently and actually didn't think it looked as bad as it does in the screenshots DU posted. It's a little darker than Shemaroo's and the colours aren't as vibrant, but I reckon that fits the tone of the movie better. It certainly didn't look as contrast-heavy and bleak as in the shots.

I think only two of the songs were the same in both the Tamil and Hindi versions though. Gulshan Grover played the part in the Hindi version done by Somayajulu in the Tamil version.

but stephen it is criminal for BEI not to present this film with OAR and anamorphic imho!!

I am not satisfied!! I hope Ayangran etc might do it anamorphic?
