..Santosh Sivan's The Terrorist releases this month on Region 0 PAL DVD from Tartan Video. Tartan DVDs are usually sub-standard but still should turn out better than Winstar release in USA, disc specs are:

Anamorphic Widescreen
Tamil 2.0
English subtitles
Extras: Star and Director Filmographies. Original Theatrical Trailer. Radio Spots. Stills Gallery. Jonathan Carter Film Notes. World Cinema Trailer Reel

... available from most R2 retailers. Use;

Just a quick note to let you know that Halo is being shown on Star Plus (in the UK) on Saturday night at 9pm (I think!)

Got this today and surprisingly it's an very good DVD from Tartan Video. Excellent anamorphic video (1.78:1) with matching anamorphic menus. Night time scenes in particular show brilliant detail unlike most other Indian DVD were used to. Sharpness is better than the USA Winstar release with video transferred in film mode (progressive). There’s quite few speckles noticeable on source which are also present on the Winstar DVD. Only minimal extras includes (single layered disc, same as Winstar DVD):

Filmographies
still galley
Jonathan Carter film notes
Trailers

..on the whole much better DVD than the Winstar DVD (p/review here and here). Fuller review of this Tartan DVD soon.

Looking at how crisp those screengrabs are makes me want to run out and buy a PAL-capable TV and DVD player. It's region 0, but I can't watch PAL, arrrr...

Original aspect ratio seems to be preserved on both DVDs; around 1.80:1 – there isn’t any evidence of cropping during the film.

There are two running times listed on the BBFC; 99m 33s (film) and 95m 35s (this Tartan DVD) – again like Asoka the difference are between PAL and NTSC. (PAL ‘running time will be shorter by approximately 4% due to the differing number of frames per second’). Oddly the same DVD has a actual running time of 96m 36s – slight discrepancy between the info on BBFC database and actually DVD ???
