the reason I posted the comparison shots of YRF and DEI/EROS was to see if someone could tell if one is better than the other, and if so by what margin.

I don't see how its been settled, people just talk about the differences on the thread you mentioned, but nothing in particular as to which one is better.

This shot indicates Field Averaging?? Ali did comment YRF shorter run time perhaps due to PAL 4% speed up.

The time difference could be due to difference between PAL and NTSC (or miss mash of conversions done in between). Roughly PAL is 4% faster, so 2:56 NTSC would be about 2:46mins in PAL.
BBFC has reference run times too for film and video.
Ali

Looks like PAL to NTSC converted field averaged. If yes, no way YRF can beat DEI-EROS Progressive PQ.
On OAR issue, for sure YRF version is preferred. But, I'll choose Progressive over Field Averaged even if Progressive DVD is cropped.

Can anyone confirm if YRF version indeed is PAL to NTSC converted Field Averaged, as indications are??

1) Movie is a movie not a still.
Therefore for proper comparison, must compare this kind of motion shot as given below. This shot is from YRF version, DEI shot required. (I guess, DEI-EROS one will beat YRF one.

2) For proper appreciation of Director's vision, OAR is required. In this case, YRF is preferrable.
But, in all the comparison shots above, any comments, which scene in the cropped version (DEI-EROS) looks incomplete or hiding something that director wanted us to see??

3) What was the original audio format?? 5.1 or mono. Most films were mono in those days. DEI-EROS version is 2 Ch Dolby and YRF one is 5.1 as Harry-rasul said. Is it real 5.1 or fake 5.1.
Any comments on which version has better audio??

I'll repeat my post from the other thread:

Bombino did DARR too...

Last week I was lucky to see three separate DVD releases of DARR all sitting on the same shelf at a local music store in Delhi --

Darr by Bombino

Darr by Eros

Darr by Yashraj

(All Indian releases)

Indian DVDs usually carry a thumbnail of the Indian Censor Cert on theDVD case. Strangely, Bombino was displaying a hard-to-read "A" certificate... Darr was not "A" but "U/A" in India.

By any chance, was DARR ever re-certified? Meaning, by any chance is the Bombino version really "A" and has more blood and gore and sex than YRF and EROS that seem to be "U/A"? ;-)

there were some limited edition yashraj DVDs released in India in jewel case packing. DARR too. check viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8408

Merging other DARR dvd threads into this (thanks sengh_15 for the info)

I don't have a player yet. :|
My mom won't buy one. :|
Also, this DVD is prepared from the Blu-ray master, hence buying this DVD was a sensible choice.
