I remember Sapnay CD that used to be my favourite music (AR Rehmaan) when the film was released. When I saw this film in theatre, sreening was not in DTS and the sound was FLAT.

Spark DVD audio is even worst. DVD audio info shows it as 5.1 @ 224 kbps. I have never seen 5.1 audio at less than 384 kbps in any DVD before. Audio does come out of all 5.1 speakers and it's the same audio in all the speakers.

This film was made in Hindi and another South language/ languages and was released with DTS, meant for multilanguage prints. (As far as I remember, there was no Dolby Digital for this film).
What's the name of this film in South language?? Is there a DVD with decent audio??

The name of the movie in Tamil is Minsara Kanavu . Ayngaran released it

Got AYN Minsara Kanavu, the Tamil version of Sapnay. Audio is excellent, the same as I'm used to from Sapnay CD. Not like back-up audio track in the theatre and in Spark DVD.

As mentioned in the links in the above posts, I too am not sure whether it's true 5.1 or just stereo sound distributed to all speakers (5.1@448kbps). But, audio does have good bass and high frequencies.

As we all know, film did have DTS audio but was it DTS 5.1 or DTS stereo or DTS mono?? I guess, Sapnay/ MinsaraKanavu was one of the earliest Indian DTS films??
