movie seems extremely low budget but looks very authentic..it is in punjabi though!

I doubt they filmed it with high class equipment or cameras?

Thank you for those comparision shots - i am going to go with the DVD version. i understand that the other one is for TV and hence the messed up OAR.

I prefer my films in their intended Aspect Ratio

In this thread, I read another user warning against this DVD - In India, it is distributed by Excel Videos, a very fine company when it comes to Hollyowood movies... they source the DVDs from Taiwan and distribute in India. However, the Indian-authored Excel DVDs, such as Khamosh Pani and Ramayan (animated) are substandard quality.

Khamosh Pani from Excel (Shringar) is a mess!

Says "Dolby Digital 5.1" on the cover --- is actually only Dolby Surround

Says "anamorphic widescreen" on the cover --- is actually non-anamorphic

Says "NTSC" on the cover -- but I think it is "PAL."

Says "Hindi" on the cover -- is actually Punjabi (Pakistani Punjabi)

Shame on Excel Videos after doing such a great job of Hollywood movies.
The movie itself is AMAZING!

Actually it is not even in Dolby Surround, but rather it is Dolby Mono and too make matters worse the audio is horrible with lots of noise throughout the film.

Not only is the DVD not anamorphic but the video is also presented in a cropped 16:9 ratio. As for the quality of the picture, the less said the better.

I saw the new lot of Khamosh Pani in the market -- Excel seem to have made some amends in correctly labeling... they now correctly say 4:3 Punjabi Dolby Digital 2.0 on the case...
