Quote:
Music and comedy are the two pillars that prop up this otherwise flimsy story that offers nothing new in the romance department. Gangai Amaran almost deifies his brother Ilaiyaraja by going to Raja for singing the title song and falling at his feet to get his blessings. Raja rises to the occasion with a blockbuster soundtrack. I still remember Maanguyile Poonguyile... blaring out of loudspeakers at every street corner when the movie was released. Both versions of the song are a pleasure to hear with S.P.Balasubramaniam infusing life into his solo version. Kudagumalai... and Indha Maan... are the other melodious duets. Ooru Vittu... is the catchy, rowdy group song while Maariyamma... provides the perfect background to the standard scene of the hero and heroine dancing in front of the deity.

Excellent sound quality. Only tamil DVD with seperate menu for just comedy tracks. They are not planning to do any more DVDs, so they are clearing their inventories.

The titles they released have limited appeal. If they released at least one or two recent hits they might have been around longer. I'm sure they can't compete with Ayngaran in that department. Even Tamilini stopped making DVDs. But I'm glad they released Kamaraj, as it is doubtful any other company would have.

I may buy Karagattakaran and/or Meera for the songs. I already have Kamaraj.

The reason why they couldnt do new movies are their geographic presense. With in US, you cant sell more than 1000 DVDs, that too if its a movie like CM/Anniyan.

Anniyan copyright for US is still available and is quoted at 7 lakh. With manufacturing costs etc, it would cost atleast 15000 USD. One need to sell atleast 2000 DVDs to breakeven. Getting copyright for tamil DVDs are not worth it,if you dont have good geographic locations, like Canada, Europe, Singapore & Sirlanka, which is why Ayngaran is still standing.
