Are there any new details on the special edition that was originally planned?

Rumour has it that the
The collector's edition contains 1 audio CD, 1 25 minutes DVD on the
making of Thiruvasakam of Symphony in Hungary, New York and India,
Hymn book-hand written by Maestro and a small booklet with an
article by Maestro and comments by celebrities. This will be
available only in the special shops like Landmark. The cost is Rs.
250.

Perhaps DU has updates for us in this regards ??

BTW DragunR2 , you are based in Dallas perhaps you can attend the

Thamizhar Thiruvizha 2005 where it is offcially being released in US

I don't think anyone I know is going to Madras any time soon, so I guess it is just the regular CD for me, though I would like to get that DVD.

Tickets are too expensive for me. If I went, I'd have to forego buying Thiruvasagam :)

Got this in an email

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the TiS-USA team and Tamil Maiyam I would like to thank you for
your patient and continuing support of the 'Thiruvasakam by
Ilaiyaraaja' project.
Here is an opportunity for you to be further involved in this historic
project. At this
time we are seeking volunteers who can act as the primary sales/distribution
contact for 'Thiruvasakam by Ilaiyaraaja' in their local cities starting July 2.

As you may now by know, 'Thiruvasakam by Ilaiyaraaja' will be
officially released
in the USA on July 2, at the Annual Tamil Convention to be held in Dallas, Texas
(http://www.natt.us/). For the benefit of all the eager fans in the US
and Canada,
the TiS-USA team is planning to ensure that the CDs are available in as many
cities during the same weekend (July 2-4).

We will initially be releasing the special edition CD package
containing the audio CD,
a 25 minute DVD on the making of 'Thiruvasakam by Ilaiyaraaja', a Hymn
book hand
written by Shri Ilaiyaraaja and a small booklet with an article by
Shri Ilaiyaraaja and comments by celebrities. Each special edition CD
will cost $20.

If you can sell more than 10 CDs in your local area please get in
touch with us ASAP by replying to this email or calling me (Dr. Sankar
Kumar) at 413-3913. An advance
payment in full for the first 10 CDs ($200) and $10 for each
additional CD is suggested.
However even if you cannot make an advance payment we encourage you to send
us an email. For smaller orders we will also be setting up a page to
accept credit card
payments on our website (http://www.tis-usa.com) by the end of next
week (June 16).

We will be eagerly looking forward to a positive response from you to
this call for
volunteers. Your participation at this moment is crucial to the
success of this project.

Sincerely,

Dr. Sankar Kumar
(for TiS-USA team)

dvdisoil

i am working with Dr Shankar for a while now. I am not sure how they want to sell this to retailers (or even if they have any plan to sell to retailers). Will know more in couple of days.

If I cant get any wholesale price, I would recommend you (and all other folks!) to buy directly from Dr Shankar.

Also, on July first, only the special edition CD will be released. So I have to wait for the regular edition of the CD to sell in my site.

If there is some discount that I can get, then I will let you know in couple of days. Otherwise, Dr Shankar is the way to go!

Thanks

I preordered the special edition yesterday from DVDU, not having read this post of yours. Should I cancel the order with you and place it with Dr. Shankar or will it be okay if i keep my order with you? I know you are reliable with shipping when you have the product, but I do not know if Dr. Shankar will ship it in a timely manner, since he's not an e-tailer, unless someone else is actually shipping the CDs.

I just hope there's not another delay!

http://dvdunlimitedonline.com/shop/prod ... ts_id=2582

$19.99

Please place your order before Jun 25th. All orders placed after Jun 25th would be processed 1 week after the release of the CD. Orders placed before Jun 25th would be processed immediately. Also do not place any other DVD/CD with this CD, since this CD will be packaged and shipped from various locations for faster delivery.

Sorry folks. Didnt read this yesterday.

Dr2, its fine. We are expecting this product on our hand in timely manner so that we can ship by Jun 30th.

I will send out an email today to all the customers who placed orders regarding collector's edition, so you can reply back with what you want.

Note: Got info yesterday that Collector's has VCD not DVD, but this is something they are still trying to work it out. So if it is VCD it is VCD if not it is DVD.

Lastly, Dr Shankar is trying to figure out a way to ship the product to customers and one of the approach he is thinking is to ship the product thru us. The reason why I mentioned to place order before Jun 25th is to know the volume so that we can call for volunteers if the order is huge (expecting around 2000 on day1).

Either you place your order with us or with TIS-USA, the total cost of the CD is going to tamil maiyam. We are just volunteers as far as TIS goes and not retailers!

The pack for USA is exclusively for USA. It will not be available in India. TIS-India/TIS-USA will release a statement soon regarding copyright of the product and prohibition of sale of TIS-India CD in other countries and the legal actions against those who import TIS-India CD from India.

TIS-USA pack will have DVD instead of VCD. The pack is going to be similar to a 2 disc DVD. So it wont be in a regular CD box. It will be probably around the size of Lakshya DVD (or similar by UTV).

Finally Jun 30th shipment starts from DU and TIS.

Today I am going to add facility for bulk orders. Bulk orders will have between 5% to 10% off from single order and also, you will save on shipping, because shipping cost would be flat 2.25 by firstclass. This discount is something we have got from TIS and we are passing it on to customers.

1 CD -> 22.25 including shipping
5 CDs -> $95 + 2.25 shipping = 97.25 = 19.45
10 CDs-> $180 + 2.25 shipping = 18.225
25 CDs -> $450 + 2.25 = 18.09

I personally request you to get as much as you can, since this one does not have any distribution like any commercial product and the sale of this CD would be much much lower compared to a regular commercial product.

Thanks
