CD will be released by mid/end June. I am getting a sample 2 minute promo CD next week. There are totally 6 songs, ranging from pure western classical to a fusion between western and folk song, to pure folk song. The promo song is from the 22 minute song that Stephen Schwartz translated in english (sung by a grammy award winner singer along with IR). The music conductor of Hungarian Symphony said that this piece will be heard all over the world for the milleniums to come. IR himself told that he has never done something like this before and he himself was truly amazed. I am really excited and looking forward for this.

I know this has nothing to do with the Symphony but curios about these releases ( sounds like devotional albums )

Songs are good, but doesnt have a devotional appeal. There is a huge demand for this product in Canada, UK and other european countries, mainly due to devoted srilankan IR fans.

On a seperate topic, IR also announced a world tour that excludes USA, just because USA doesnt have a consolidated IR fans. fans are scattered across different states. Last week we had "Kaathadi Ramamoorthi" drama in NJ and it had very good response. I am wondering if IR should attempt to conduct one performance atleast in North East!!!

Why doesn't he come to NY/NJ/Dallas/Houston/LA, etc? I'm sure they would give him a good reception.

From the IR Yahoo Group:

Dear Friends,

Here is the good news that we have been expecting for the past 2 years
and more:

'Thiruvasakam By Ilaiyaraaja' will be launched on June 26, 2005 at
Chennai in a grand function that will be attended and presided over by
many dignitaries. The deal had been signed with 'HMV'only yesterday.
So, it is time that we get ready for the action plan, according to Rev
Fr Jegath Gaspar Raj.

The price will be announced just before release only, to avoid
confusion. Let us get set for the next signal.

Yours Always Musically,
Vijay.

I would think so. Even HMV is talking about 3rd week of June, so thats probably it. The rumor is that the President will preside over the function and speak about Thiruvasagam, IR. It is expected that the function will be attended by many film and non-film personalities. Some of the people to look forward include Jayalalitha, Rajni and none other than ARR!!! Hopefully we can get another ARR-IR picture thru this function.
