How is the quality?

Yeah would like to get a review of the disk. Is this even an official release??, Somehow I fear this will be like the crappy Satyajit ray disks available from bdbazar.com

The only Ghatak film I have seen so far is The cloud capped star and simply loved it . Looking forward to seeing this one and The River called Titus (also available from BFI and IS a Region 0 NTSC disk)

The DVD is pretty pathetic but what really pissed me off was the subtitles, more than 30% of the film lacks subtitles. Being a devotee of Ghatak this is the only way for me to see this film in US and for that alone i have to thank Biswas !. It cost me 14$ and i think it is worth its price till a better release comes along ( ** Criterion - i hope you are reading this ** )

The film itself is pretty personal and proably the most surreal indian film i have seen. Background info on Ghatak is a must if you want to enjoy this one. Its a treat for serious filmfans and for others its probably going to be a pass. Another review for the movie

Did this guy own the grocery store from which Biswas rented the VHS to make this DVD?

I think he is/was president of a Bangla Club based in US. i seem to have heared something about him, but can't seem to recollect what it is - will post if i ever find out
