I just got the Eros DVD today for rental. Now I wish had a dual layer dvd burner so I could replicate the DVD and avoid the pausing. I'll have to compress this crap dvd to fit on a 4.7 dvdr if it pauses too much.

On a good note.. I might be heading back to India on October so will be looking for Main Hoon Na on DVD.

Also expect a review on Main Hoon Naa from Indian watch dog shortly my friend said they going to compare it to Hum tum and really stick to EROS for this crap dvd. Basically they are going to compare two hit movies and show how one movie (hum tum was properly done on DVD) and the other Main Hoon Naa was messed up on DVD.

Count your blessings if the disc plays even with thousands of pauses. MHN discs have all rotted by now or will rot soon.

Somehow I managed to play the disc by hook or crook. Did not notice any thing missing, but my 11 year old kept on complaining and insisting that a certain segment was missing from what she saw in the theatre. Tried playing with different players, with different problems and in one of the tries, did find that missing segment.

Can someone post the total time of the main feature for checking if we missed any segment during various freezing encounters.

I watched my rental DVD this evening.

I did not have thousands of pauses only like 6-8 layer changes, which were very annoying Also my Panasonic DVD player skipped 1-2 scenes. Luckly I saw the movie in the cinema hall when in India.

The transfer for the DVD sucked. The funny thing is towards the end of movie the picture quality really improved. I noticed that some of the songs had a really good picture. (Seems Eros detailed some of the songs).

In all this movie needs a new transfer with gold DVD media.

plays without problems on my other Sony dvd.

Wonder why it will play on the Sony and is incompatible with the JVC?
Didn't have any problems with other Eros discs except this one.

Some players are more forgiving than others. Even the most forgiving players will not keep on playing the same DVD as disc rot progresses. Looks like EROS too have discovered the advantage of Time Bomb DVDs.

As I learnt from my experience, our best bet is to back it up (when DVD is still playable) on our own DVD Rs or rent or buy a new whenever we want to watch a DVD.

Below are screen shots of Main Hoon Na backed up with DVD Shrink 3.2 using Deep Analysis combined with Maximum smoothness. The directors commentary had to removed along with subtitles except for English. DVD Shrink 60.5% (uncompressed)

I bought my copy from Play.com and when I saw all the pauses I called Play.com and complained. They were quiet nice and I was able to get a refund.

I recently bought the German version, which has the same telecine source as EROS. However, the DVD uses better (but not great) compression and there are no pause issues at all!!!

Which German version did you get? The one I bought (by Rapid Eye Movies) looked even worse than the Eros disc. Certainly didn't look to be from the same source...

LOL... They excelled in Blurry already in the dvd.... Is here no bollywood company that can release decent dvd's / bluray. I used to buy shemaroo for the quality of their prints until their disk started to rot. Eros are encoded crap... DEI are no more... Shemaroo Rot....

i recently got a single disk version of MAIN HOON NA by eros, hoping that at least they got rid of the horrible layer breaks/pauses (whatever they call them)... but not only are those intact, the print quality is worser than the original 2004 2-disc dvd release

regarding Indian dvd companies, i agree with you 1000%
like you, i used to support Shemaroo up to one point, but i can't stand their disc rotting and that OBNOXIOUS watermark, well its a text not even a watermark anymore
