Anyone got DVDs of Kalapani and Yodha (both malayalam movies). How is the video quality? Can you post some screenshots? What about the audio? Are they in true dolby 5.1 or upmixed from stereo?

IMAN,

Yodha video quality is decent and it is anamorphic 2.35.1 from Surya. It does not have a true DD 5.1 as the movie is mono. I haven't had a chance to watch Kalapani assuming its 2.35.1 anamorphic and if i remmeber correctly its one of the first Dolby Digital malayalam movies so there is slight chance it will have true 5.1.

Yes, Kalapani was one of the early malayalam movies in DD 5.1.

I hope you dont mind posting screenshots of these movies.

I rented YODHA awhile ago so I can't post screenshots. Another Zulmi Pillairaj posted some screenshots of mallu films so try and do a search.

KALAA PAANI was dubbed into hindi, telugu, tamil. A must see film for all Indians. A well directed moie by priya darshan (HERA PHERI, VIRAASAT), and a mind blowing performance by the greatest MOHAN LAL. Malayalam version dvd is no good at all. I can't even play the DVD anymore. Hindi Version Sazza-E- Kaala Paani ia availble for a cheap price. a Must see film.
