IMO that screenshot of surya in his police uniform exaggerates the problems of the kaaka kaaka dvd. there is a problem with grain but it only distracted me during bright outdoor scenes.

ayngaran should cut the DD 5.1 track, if anything, and replace it with 2.0 sound. the DTS track on this dvd is amazing and, for me, adds more to my enjoyment of the movie than a grain-free picture could.

You can use all of them, Select whatever you want or care? :nopity: JB/ or you or dragun, etc, whose names you r using for your own purposes/reasons.Let me tell you, still my opinion stays FIRM!! I think, it is not JB it is you who got stuck in MATCH FIXING!under your SWEET COVER!
I personally think, there are lot of people hang around here, whose retail/online buisness might be in jeopardy, when these expensive crap dvds are questioned for their quality.

I dont want you or any one to think for a second, that i should be taken credible!! believe me I dont care, as I said before!!

if u and every one think, AYANGRAN are doing HELL OF A GOOD JOB giving us QUALITY DVDS!! I am not BUYING it, even on COST OF MY CREDIBILITY!!

I know what i am doing!!

If, U guys, dont want me to post here, and or to give my, so called BIASED opinion, I would rather do so! but still will refrain from calling these AYANGRAN/YRF dvds, GOOD DVDS!

I hope I make my self clear!!!! :baaa:

Well, I was to send some of JOOT/STUMBLE to UL, that I have DECIDED not to!! as IT IS ALL WORTHLESS here!!
Thnx to every one!!to bear with MY BIASED SELF!!I am OBLIGED, HUMBLY!! :bangbang:

You guys are GETTING what you DESERVE!

I put the link to the original Okkadu thread, so anyone is free to click. Mhafner's review is reliable too, so it's not just selective screenshots.

BTW, Sweetfriend, your posts look suspiciously like Monizam's :)

The Kaka DVD is progressive. But
it's not the kind of progressive
that makes sense. What they did is
use an interlaced transfer with 2:3
pulldown and put it interlaced on
the disc! The only difference to
EROS DVDs with 2:3 pulldown is that
they flag the fields that make a
frame in the stream as a frame. So
we get the 30 clicks per second
and a sequence of frames and fields
when stepping through the disc. This helps players that rely on flags only to some extent. But it
does not save bits since it still
encodes 60 fields per second instead of 24 frames! They should
do real progressive and store and
encode every field only once. They
really need all the bits they have
for their DTS and grainy masters.(48 fields stored per second, output as 24 frames)?

mhafner, are DEI DVDs 48 fields per second? If so, it should be something that is done at the Telecine process. Prasad might not be having the right equipment to do such a thing.

The people at Prasad think the reason for grain could be they opted for excessive sharpness setting while doing the Telecine. I requested them to reduce this on one of the new Telugu DVD "Shivamani" which is to be released in 2-days. I've seen the content on Layer 1 and it looks lot better than some of the recent works done at Prasad.

So, soon you should all be seeing less grain on Tamil DVDs from AYN as well!

Yes! The PQ is ok. There is no grain and the colors are little better than usual. It is so much better than Anjayena dvd but still not on par with Ayngaran's best. :baaa:

Ayangaran's VIRAMUNDI is not done at Prasad. They are expected to do BMD version. From your description of DVD quality, it looks like AYN used positive to do the telecine. Usually this is done when producers are not ready to give out negatives for very long time.
