I have heard good stuff about this movie starring Mohanlal, Prabhu, Tabu and Amrish Puri. It's some prison story set in Andamaan Islands directed by Priyadarshan and was released in a few different languages. I was told maestro Ilayaraja's background music kick's a** in this movie.

I am interested in the Tamil DVD release. So far I know it's only released by a local Singapore retailer called Kavitha and that the quality is awful. Does anyone know if Ayngaran or Tamilini would one day release this under their label?

Thanks.

Ayngaran have no plans to release this title under thier DVD collection. The reason...its dubbed (which means poor sales)and its best to get the original Malayalam version.

I doubt whether the original Malayalam DVD is of any better quality. It was one of the initial movies released by Surya, most of which were plagued by soft picture and mono sound panned to 5 channels.

I have the VCD of the movie and the transfer is quite soft. The movie itself is excellent, and depicts the time and place very well. The guy who played Mungeri Lal in Mungeri Lal Ke Haseen Sapne (I forget the actor's name) plays Veer Savarker, which is probably the best role of the movie.

Regards, Chaver.
