but can you explain technical terms like DNR and how it effects picture and sound quality in a dvd?

Drats! now you are going technical on me, why you want to go and do that for? :p I do not know the nitty-gritty of it, it's way beyond my level. However, I do understand this much DNR ( digital noise reduction ) and DVNR ( digital video noise reduction ) are techniques used in the preparation process of getting a film source ready for encoding. In essence it helps to repair minor blemishes and wear and aids in the enhancement of the images we see relative to sharpness and contrast. When care is taken and done properly we get English DVD quality. Alas, but in our case when done by inept people we get the current generations of Indian DVD, blurriness, delayed movements, shimmering and in the case of the new BEI just released and pointed out by Dragun R rings around the images and so on. Phew! don't go technical on me again I might refuse to acknowledge you. :D

Thanks for that technical input, James Bond ... I didn't understand a word but its sounds like good stuff...!
:)

Lakshmi was a commercial disaster, and that's why it is surprising that it even got released on dvd. It was a Reena Roy's home production, and she was particurly upset at the time as why a good film like it would flop, whilst many of her other meaningless films were succeeding. Its one of the few films in which she dominates practically every frame, and her dances were stunning.

In terms of the print, the main drawback is the blurred image, although it is a clean source in the sense that there are no distracting marks and lines on the screen. For those who want to see the film, it may possibly be the best print that we are ever going to get....

Pran's actually in a TRIPLE role....he also plays a woman in the movie !!!!! It was shown on B4U a while ago....quite pathetic without doubt....

Out of interest, Jungle Mein Mangal is a very good print, but the film is rather unusual, certainly no scope for Reena Roy. With regard to Pran's triple role, I think you may be getting confused. Its a double role: there is the older Pran who is a professor and his student (also played by Pran). The younger student disguises himself as a woman to get stay in a hotel full of females, and does a silly tranvestite type of dance!

You are right....not really a triple role, Pran just dresses up as a drag....and I do remember when shown on B4U it was a terrific print too....
