i was really disgusted!I believe people who don't know them, or new comers will pass these dvds as pirates or low quality just after looking on the cover art!Pls. raise ur voices loud and clear!!

what the f*** are you talking about!!!!!!!!! :sly:

You wanna stick to NON-DEI artwork; Stay with them. Leave the f*** classic alone.

DEI's reputation is niether in the hand of fucked up goof-head like you nor those newcomers who dont know shit about genuine movie.

The classics that DEI has been releasing recently worth more than just your stupid nagging. I find you pathetic doing so. Grow up dude. If you can't appreciate classics, stay away from it. Pray for DEI to release new releases movies that is if DEI's print worth anything to you, else there is always Eros and others.

I hope my voice is raised enough for you to hear me out.

Shuman,

I don't think Arsh was criticising DEI's releases of classic movies, but simply the *cover* art on the dvd box. Arsh, correct me if I'm wrong. Shuman, I think you need to relax about things, and not curse Arsh or anyone else over differing opinions. Even if Arsh decided to criticise DEI for more than artwork, why do you need to blow up over it? A forum is precisely for discussion and debate, and you don't need to form a temper when someone makes a statement which you disagree with. We're all grown ups here. Take care ,

Hasan

I agree with arsh, it's not only DEI but other companies as well who usually screw up the covers of DVD either by listing wrong credits or stills of wrong stars who are not even in the movie. One of the most common error is the year of release
which is usually incorrect.

DEI classic range of covers are very Yash Raj Films! – i.e. not very original – but they do sit in very well with the rest of the DVD collection :p

ps shuman please read, understand and think before you post - you're post was unnecessary, off the point... oh hang on, sorry my fault – just read you’re signature ‘It's easy to critise and very difficult to endure it. why!’ – makes sense now :alien:

Well well ali , intervening in a chat like this :D Surprise surprise . Now my comments here :-

1.) DEI new covers suckzz...especially the Logo in the back..the flaming sun..It is really awful. The pictures on the cover are really dull with no digital enhancements. (Exceptions of cos..HDDCS and KNPH). I wonder if Yashraj can do it..why cant DEI ( cos afterall they are aping Yashraj cover design)

2.) I dont give a shit abt the cover as long as the contents inside are great..which Is why I dont crib abt the DVD covers. I suppose there is a semblance of logic in Shuman's post-however offensive it may be to Hamare Arsh Bhai :p

Arsh ji ek Kahawat hai....English mein,.,,Biwi aapki jab Badsoorat ho...toh sirf ek ki kaam karna chahiye...

Cover the face and f*** the base ! Aap bhi vaise hi karo na... Cover ko kachde mein daal doh aur DVD ka Lutf Uthao ( Hope my pathetic urdu is right !)

I’ll :baaa: you're point 2 - as it very much the case that Indian DVDs have generally gone downhill this past year (in terms of quality) so more to improve the actual DVD than cover take more importance me reckon.

Yes, I agree DEi is trying very hard to ape Yash raj dvds. All their last classic releases have the ugly golden DEi logo instead of the usual white logo. But what upsets me more is that the quality is not that good anymore either. What is with their squash problem?? They have been releasing like this for a year!! I wrote them but they don't seem to reply.
Also their discs are not very good in quality pics(HDDCS, Rangeela) tend to freeze up after the layer change (I know no one experienceed this but I did).

Well! i am surprised by this voilent responce for a casual genuine concern! well every body thanx for beech bachao!
I am a big DEI fan and would buy any thing with thei quality, even wrapped in shit!YRF style is fine!but quality of pictures and material cover is not like YRF! but even with that glossy cover I would never buy that kind of gloss wrapped shit from YRF!
Now! as my agreesive friend thinks DEI are doing a great job releasing the classics!!I agree and appreciate 110% or even more!
BUT! I want DEI to be the best in all respect and i know they are capable of doing that!and they try to listen for improvements!
I hope they will take and second look at this one too! to improve on their already good name!
I am not complaining for squish syndrome on their anamorphic enhancement! and that is a genuine concern too IMO!
So F***here and there does not correct and address the concern!
If DEI are absolutely incapable of improving their presentation too!!We will live with UGLY WIFE! happily!with high probability, but I thought EVERY body have a right for their concerns and OPINIONS and using that!I came out with mine!

I think DVD covers are an important part of selling the product, as its the first thing that attracts you to it in stores. The designs DEI are doing at the moment are certainly better then what they were doing previosly. Just compare the awful box design of Kasme Vaade to any of their recent classic releases, and you can see a vast improvment. However in my opinion the "Yash Raj" type improvement could be much better, if care and quality went into those designs.

I also cringe at there new label "Evergreen Classics". I would use terms for certain films like Contemporary Classic, The DEI Collection, Cult Classic, Indian Cinema Anthology...alright not perfect examples but you see my point...right?

What would you do to make the covers more better?

i agree
the cover designs are good
but the quality of the pictures and print is bad
nothing written on the cover seems sharp, everything seems dull and low quality
and also
their dvd quality is not improving much either
they are not wanting to make a reference quality indian dvd
b/c they continue to do the CARELESS job of applying digital filtering to the dvd films they release
which sucks, they really need to get their act togather
they really need to dish out dvd's that seem to have some professionalism to'em, meaning doing careful job with the dvd they release
i say that b/c they do quite a good job, but they need to improve, they have the right equipment they just need to use it properly to auther dvd's

just to straighten this out, i am fan of DEI, most of my indian dvd's are by DEI

bye

I agree with mr Zoran (I know I've replied centuries later)

DEi did make crappy artworks for some of them. But HDDCS and KNPH are exceptional.

As Mr. shahran said that covers are important. They enhance our appeal towards the DVD. Mainly, if the artworks are brilliant, then only we tend to buy them. We've all been fooled by the glorious yrf covers which give out pathetic technical results.

And Shemaroo too manufactures bad artworks using loud covers, blurred/pixilated photos (Specially the shots taken from the film.) they use fonts like Arial which has no appeal.
Preferably, thematic colours and fonts should be used.

Ultra too is lagging behind in artworks and they tend to use improper English.

To appeal the customers, the artwork too must be good and companies like Dei should definitely make good artworks, for their DVDs are good.

I can't tell you I feel when I see someone posting pics of DVDs artworks which are mainly of DEi/BE.

I envy you, Mr. Ali, for I don't own any of their DVDs.
