I just bought the Pamasonic E30 DVD recorder. But I can not record most of the DVD"s. It says Right protected even the indian DVD. So, I think it's the Macrovision thing. Does anyone know how to record these DVD"s on dvd-r media, how how to get around the protected recording option?

I have the Panasonic E50 and use a Stabilizer to bypass that macrovision thing. It works for all indian DVDs and some english DVDs. I bought it from Futureshop here in Toronto, CANADA for $50. Another option would be an RF Modulator but then you are using coaxial cable and the quality would seriously suck. The Stabilizer I have uses RCA plugs. I try not to use the stabilizer when possible and use the S-Video.

So far I have copied 5 movies via DVD to DVD Recorder and all came out perfect!

The two dvd players I have they are both have macrovision, so if the stabilizer clears the output signal, my dvd recorder is still copy protected. Will the dvd recorder still record? The stabilizer will work from DVD to VCR because vcr doasn't have macrovision. From DVD to DVD is it still possible?

My E50 has macrovision as well so if I connect a VCR to it to record the video would record but would go from bright to dull (macrovision).

If you connect a DVD player (mine a Panasonic RP82) to the E50 with the stabilizer in between, yes it would record. I have recorded the following using DVD to DVD with the stabilizer because of macrovision protection:

Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya - ERO$ B4U

The following with S-Video cable because macrovision was not an issue:
Company - ERO$/B4U
Chalte Chalte - Pirate
Tera Chehra - Adnan Sami
Jaanwar - DEI
Vishwa Vidhaata

Here is a pretty cool site I just found but havent tested if what it says about the DVDs is true or not:

CopyThisDVD.com

Find out which DVDs are non-macrovision protected and easy to copy.

Try Disco Dancer, it has protection it it, also try if you can recored Yaj Raj DVD"s, they all have protection against recording. The movies you mention can be recorded to a VCR without Stibilizar because the DVD's don't have protection code in them. DEI didn't used to do that, but when I tried to record Disco Dancer I could not because of the code it dvd itself.

Yo UrbanLegend ! Aapse Yeh Ummeed Nahi thi :D

Do this instead :-
1.) Rip the DVD onto ur harddrive !...(Smartripper for example)
2.) Join the VOB files
3.) (Re)Author them, if you want additional chapter marks

4.) If you want it to fit in One DVD... compress it (automatic programs are there..Google for it) to 4.7GB.. If not then cut it into 2 pieces... & then burn it !

This is the same thing as copying a CD directly and first extracting the CD using EAC and then burning it !

Sk Bhai I know how to do that but since I dont have a DVD (+-)R/W drive to write them later I have to go about it this way which I dont mind.

Najjib...I tried DDLJ last night with the stabilizer and it guess what it didnt work! There are some indian DVDs that have macrovision that didnt copy if I connected the S-video lead direct from DVD 2 DVD but if I connect the RCA cables from the DVD player 1st to the stabilizer then to the recorder it works. Stronger macrovision ??? So far I have been able to copy every indian DVD...I guess I wont be able to copy Yashraj ones until I figure out something. Some people over at DVDrhelp.com forums mention something about a TBC. Not sure where to find one and how much it is though...

Get a DVD player with macrovision turned off. Or get one for which you can update the firmware to turn off the macrovision. We can get such players for about £50.00 in the UK (the ones the supermarkets sell)

Just wait for a couple of more months... you will get an all-in-one format DVD recorder for the same price ! I am holding back on that...

Just another question though... Are DVD drives (the latest ones that are coming out) only made for reading dvd encoded movies and audio ? Cant they read other forms of Data... e.g. Mp3s, Mpc's, Ogg ? etc.

How much time a PC based DVD recorder takes to burn 4.7GB DVD if recording at 4X speed?
