Sentiments abound! A prerequiste of intellectual discourse is keeping in sight of the subject matter. Going off on a tangent
imposing your religious and political persuations on others is indicative of the sufferings from cultural displacement and post traumatic stress syndrome. The DVD is out. Was it done in the standard as all other Indian DVD. Instead of bashing the actor ( Sunny ) no love lost, he is just earning a living the focus should be on the story teller and the maker of the film. There in lies the causes of satisfaction or displeasure.

Ha! Ha! Ha! I don't envy you for that.

As for Gadar... this is proper shit... honest u have to agree with me!! its bullshit.. the movie was lifted directly from Shaheed-E-Mohabbat which was an excellent movie and really was great in the technical aspects!!

Since I have not seen Shaheed-E-Mohabbat, my views on Gadar have always been that it was a strong story and script marred by mediocre direction and lack of technical finesse. O' and that awful climax, the less said about it the better. Would love to be able to see Shaheed_E-Mohabbat.

Im sick of sunnys desh-lover roles... they are so predictable and pathetic!!

If it were upto me I'd ban Sunny Deol from acting if that's what it would take to stop these crap films, that try to capitalize on hollow patriotic sentiments, from being made. What I fail to understand is why do people equate screaming with good acting.

If Sunny is excused for just making a living, then the same applies to producer/director/writer or for that matter anyone else involved with the film. BUt I personally don't buy this excuse, an actor of Sunny's standing can definately select the projects he does and also have an influence on making the films atleast somewhat decent.

PS: Sunny says now in his interviews that he only has a guest role in 'Maa Tujhe Salaam' and that he can't help it if the Producers of the film have potrayed otherwise in the marketing of the film. What a load of crap, as if he could not stop his name and mug shots being plastered all over the publicity material of the film. Infact till today I have no idea who has the lead role in the film if his is only a guest role.

Oh come now Sanjay you sound like you have a personal vendetta against Sunny. Sunny in my book is a has been ( if he ever been ) his acting is too stolid but that don't mean I hate the guy. If you wanted to get rid of an unwanted tree you do not lop the branches you destroy the roots. Now all the woes stems from the writers/producers/directors. These are pitable folks who are far removed from the sphere of ordinary life. They should at times be more in touch with reality and be more sensitive to the general public. But no, to make a film to be perceived as controversal is their bread and butter. How ordinately depressing.

even though i am a paki i dont mind certain paki bashing movies i.e. Desh Premee <!--emo&:D but truthfully the ones coming out recently, Border, Maa Tujhe Salam, Gadar and Hindustani ki Kasam have had some of the worst storylines ever and have pathetic technical values... and are really a bullshit movie to watch... as for the problem with patriotic movies... the movies can say wat they want, even though it does piss me off. doesnt get to me anymore...!!

Although I wholeheartedly agree with you on 'Maa Tujhe Salaam & Hindustan Ki Kasam' being absolutely trash films (you could add 'Indian' to the list), I totally disagree on Border and Gadar being so. Gadar inspite of its atrocious climax, was a good story pretty well executed. As for Border not having a good storyline, might I remind you that it is based on Historical facts and was in my opinion a pretty well made and one of the better war film.

i have my beliefs on the situations and the indian public have there own.......... so be it... i just dont watch the pile of shit!! :)

That is a mature thought, one that we should all follow I think. I do have one question though, if you don't watch these films, then how can you comment on their storyline or for that matter their technical values? Of the movies that you have mentioned, atleast Border was technically a very polished film.

I agree with you Sanjay. Even though Gadar doesn't make my top 10 list of best of 2001, it still wasn't that bad of a flick. I enjoyed watching the first half, and everything in the second half was okay up until where Sunny takes on the entire Pakistani Military by himself ontop of the train. That was pure B.S. And Border, technically, in my opinion was an awsome film. Through Technical aspects, Border is perhaps India best war film to date. Aside from this, the acting in border was all round excellent along with the songs.

MTS DVD review up

This DVD is slightly better than Filhaal DVD - and most other Eros ones that have out recently. Colours don’t look that much faded and does have better contrast. Sound is above Eros DD5.1. Having said that it still has been sourced from a print that has done the rounds and video artefacts are typical of other Eros DVDs.
