Everything else the same, then diff is:

1) Progressive:
24 frames per sec displayed at 720 x 480 res displayed 24 times per sec refreshed 60 or 72 times per sec.

2) Interlaced Film material:
24 frames split into 60 frames and displayed 60 times per sec but at a 720 x 240 res.

3) Interlaced Video:
60 frames per sec displayed 60 times per sec at 720 x 240 res.

#1 and # 3 encoding is fine but why to settle for only half the res (#2) when there are only half the images. For half the images, DVD format is capable of doubling the res if done properly.

Perhaps my choice of word was wrong... u are not contradictory in ur statemnts but u are factually incorrect !

Of cos you will be correct only in the special case, if you have a high-end DVD system like the one Arsh has !

Your viewpoint is that you prefer OAR to progressive transfers...

I have never said that - I have said I want the basics of Hindi DVDs to be right. How many times have you misiinterpreted my viewpoint now? I do wonder how you dream things up....

My Email to VS:

Just a comment about your DVD of Tohfa. What kind of
drugs was/were the person/people on when this DVD was
done? Color fades in/out, blurry scenes and a god awful transfer! I fought with the retailer to return this DVD! You are releasing some good movies but the transfers are cr*p like this and another example, Khel which you can clearly tell it was a VHS copy like Tohfa was...VHS tracking was evident for goodness sake! You have lost another customer (your customer database is rapidly decreasing) who will buy movies pirate and support them rather than a stupid company like yours! Hope you go bankrupt!

Video Sound Reply:

Sorry for the inconvenience you have faced, we do apologize and yes we are aware of the quality of Tohfa. You can send us the copy and we will gladly exchange it for you.

As the DLT of this title was made in India we were unaware of the quality until replication was complete t therefore we are in the process of producing a new DLT and replicating the title.

Once again I do apologize.

Thanking you,

Sincerely,
For Video Sound Inc
Mona

Well lets see what happens, I'll believe it when I see it :doze:  :doze:

Anyone deserves bad treatment for watching crap like this...In any case since I need to inform..I saw this crap on Zee tv today and the print was much better than the VS dvd but nevertheless source was from VHS. So I guess the actual prints must be lost somewhere in Tollywood or whatever

Why is anyone complaining about the DVD quality when watching trash like this. Obviously, the film wasn't meant for a discerning audience who cares about quality in the first place. Half the problems stated are in all probability evident in the original film prints sent out for premiere screenings..

Why? Why? Why did Hindi films ever have to go through this!!?
