you asked for it, rana sahab, here u go:

Action rules!
The last weekend of the World Cup was disastrous for films as people refused to budge from their television sets.
This week's two releases -- Sangeeth Sivan's Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne and Ashok Honda's Om -- had a few similarities: both starred debutant heroes Zayed Khan and Attin Bhalla. Both were actioners. And both failed to lift Bollywood's sagging spirits.

Note: Films are ranked on the basis of their performance at the box-office every week. Though a film may be declared a flop, it may have performed better than other films that week.

Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne

Cast: Zayed Khan, Esha Deol
Director: Sangeeth Sivan
Zayed shows potential; good action sequences

Unentertaining story

Number of weeks: New
BO Verdict: Flop
The review

Om

Cast: Attin Bhalla, Sandhali Sinha
Director: Ashok Honda
Good action sequences

Poor story, bad performances.

Number of weeks: New
BO Verdict: Flop
The review

Escape From Taliban

Cast: Manisha Koirala, Aly Khan, Nawab Khan
Director: Ujjal Chatterjee
Good locales

Tacky production values, boring music

Number of weeks: 5
BO Verdict: Flop
The review

***enjoy another FLOP!

Another report:

Bollywood Continues To Fail

The time has come for Bollywood to step up. There are no more excuses to be made. The cricket fever has ended and Bollywood has nothing to attribute to its dismal output but the film´s themselves. The last two releases before the world cup cricket final were expected to change the luck and revive the ailing Bollywood which is now in ICU, but as it is now, that is far from happening. Hrithik Roshan´s brother in law, Zayed Khan may have been appreciated performance wise for his debut but the opening of the film is dismal. It´s competition, Om, is no better

Final Verdict
The climax, Sangeeth Sivan´s direction and Zayed Khan´s confident debut have received praise from the critics but all three will have to wait to and watch for the verdict of the theater going audience.
Despite its low budget of around 7-7.25 cr., the movie will find it difficult to recover its cost but will do better in Mumbai city and Bangalore (where it had the fifth best opening weekend of 2003).

The report is still waiting for the Theatre going audience.

Based on reviews and other material that I have seen, I predict, this movie will at least be a semi-hit. Most likely it'll ba a Hit.

A good one JUST FOR YOU, rana!!

If you’ve seen Carey Grant-Audrey Hepburn starrer Charade or its recent 2002 clone The Truth About Charlie starring the gorgeous Thandie Newton and Mark Wahlberg, don’t bother to see Chura Liyaa… unless you’re looking for a near-replica of the story. However, if you can stomach most Bollywood remakes, Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne is a safe and entertaining venture worth the money and time. CLHT is Sangeeth Sivan’s second directorial venture after flop Sunny Deol vehicle Zor in 1998. The five years have definitely shown an improvement on Sivan’s directorial skills and, much to my amazement, the film manages to be an entertaining and well-made thriller. Sivan introduces Sanjay Khan’s son Zayed in the lead opposite Esha Deol and newcomer Rakhi Sawant. Slick and fast-paced, Chura Liyaa… is a directed with flair and, despite a meandering second half, emerges a winner.

I wish, I could have seen this film in a film theatre. With its DVD release instead of thetrical release, there is no chance of it screening in a film theatre.

Just talked to a friend on the phone. He was watching this movie on home TV. He coud not stop talking about how good this movie it is. He is not even a movie phonetic and he wants to see this movie in film theatre if he can. This movie, like Jism, doesn't seem to have been released theatrically here in North America.

I guess people in Indian Film Exhibition Business don't know how to select a film for theatrical projection. They have been picking flop films and missing out on films that are turning out to be Hits.

CLHT is playing at a theater here, along with the soon-to-be-classic Ek Aur Ek Gyarah.

Indiafm reports Rs 1.72 lakh per print collections in the first week. This despite the World Cricet Cup Final on Sunday. Hardly any film has collected over Rs 1.25 lakh per print this year in their first week.

Being a low budget film, this much collecrtions sure indicate a hit.

Which brings me to the question. Is there any site, selling the CRITERION version of Charade ?.. I couldn't find any online site based in Canada selling that dvd... the closest I could get was Amazon.com... but it had a "MORATORIUM" on that !

I think Cary Grant/Audrey Hepburn is of a unique genré vis-a-vis Zayed Khan & Esha Deol :tounge:

Universal, who own the rights to Charade, will be releasing The Truth about Charlie and Charade in one package. The new disc probably won't have the extras of the Criterion disc, but it will probably be a new 16:9 enhanced transfer.

Well, i watched it tonight

Firstly, dvd, 2 channel, sound, pq, not that good!

Film:

I'll call, it okish, kinda suspence thriller!

music..nothing to take home!

Esha deol, she needs to shed pounds, to stay competitive, even using different hema hairstyles, did not help.
In her 5th flop, she is performance wise at the same level, even behind than NTJNH(pantloon).

Zayad Khan..okish again, I was not impressed much, I think, Suhail Khan's deut, and directed film wa more impressive, well, another Fardeen Khan to stay..

Pantloon' previous film, NTJNH was far better than this!

but atleast after wtching this film, you dont feel like commiting suicide, the way i felt after L:ove in time square..just describing my frustration..

Sangeet Savan's Zor was better than this imho!

I was not expecting much..so!

If I can recall, well, Ofcourse Jism, from WEG was better film, better performances, music, and if i remember correctly, had a bit better PQ, but I still have to do A to B comparison, to see how much better!

will report..soon..cheers! :nopity:

***reviewing shots, I find a bit better contrast and sharpness!!
