Archives of India (NFAI) here does not possess a copy of the film.

That defining film of Bollywood, which ran in theatres for five years, is nowhere in its vaults.

have only an incomplete version obtained as unclaimed property from the International Airports Authority of India for Rs 200.

Rana as a matter of fact... the rights of this film are controlled by... hold ur breath.. not the Sippy's but by the Hinduja Brothers ! :D (chor pe mor).. what else do you expect ?

They also do not have a copy of the K.L. Saigal version of Devdas... apparently a copy was present in the archives of Bangladesh which saved the day for the special screening of Devdas last year, when they had a panaorama of all the versions of Devdas !
