Firstly, I'd like to tell you guys that for over the past 5 months or so, I have been continously swaping e-mails with the DVD sales Manager of Eros Entertainment MADAN AHUJA. Throughout our e-mail conversations, I've requested him to visit this forum and take note of what we have to say about the Indian DVD market(more specifically about Eros DVDs). And I've even discussed issues surrounding DVD piracy with him. To which he replied by saying that Eros has raided many stores in the US over the past year selling pirated Eros DVDs and will continue to raid more. Which is a strange answer to me, because I don't hear much about Eros Entertainment doing anything relative to fighting praicy, except perhaps promoting it. Everytime I'd ask him to clearify why customer service at Eros is very poor, and he tends to tell me that I'm the only one who has problems with his product and/or service. And until recently, I've asked him some vital questions which I thought would be very interesting had he clearified them. This was my e-mail:

Hi Madan,

Good! I'm glad to hear that you guys are doing something about fighting piracy. And believe me, It's no surprise that EROS is one of the biggest name in the Indian DVD market. It's true, you guys have the finances to buy most of the latest films DVD rights. Well, I would say your only major competitor is Yash Raj Films Home Entertainment. Mainly because every time a Johar, Chopra directs a film. It's
obviously BIG! And don't worry, we have problems with there DVDs too. And like mostly with EROS, talking to there head office was like talking to a wall.

And you still fail to answer my major concerns with your product.
1. You didn't distingish why the quality of the picture on the actual feature film(ie. Company & Aks) is inferior to the quality of picutre on the promos of the same film on the same DVD? Hollywood DVDs don't have any such problems.
2. Why was there a major spelling mistake on the back of the original Devdas DVD? I continue to stress this question, but you always overlook it. YES! It may seem like a minor concern, but I still wanna know what went wrong? Because I've seen it on every Original Devdas DVD.
3. Yes!! I actually got my copy from Canada. But even $30 is a bit too high for a retail price don't you think?
4. And what is with additional promotion on every single Eros DVD (ie. Basmati rice?) I mean come'on! you guys already have enough money, its bad enough that you guys keep stuffing in more and more advertisments on your DVD just to promote 'brand name(s)' while giving less attention towards how well sharp the picture quality will be.

5. And please comment on my reference to the average Indian DVD buyer and there knowledge of quality DVDs. I would like to read your input on that matter.
6. Do you constantly visit the forums of zulm.net?

Please! PLEASE! Elaborate on all 6 of my concerns.

I think it should settle on the fact that Eros should have never broken relations with Digital Entertainment Inc. I need your input on this matter as well Madan.

[color=black]I gave the man 2 weeks to reply back, and when I finally e-mailed him again wondering what had happened to him, he said he was busy with current Eros DVD releases and asked me to e-mail him the previous message again and would get back to me this time. So I did, and I basically forwarded the same e-mail to him again. What happenes? I waited for another two weeks with no replies, which finally made me fad-up. So below was my e-mail to him TODAY:

I've given you another 2 weeks(10 business days) to answer to my main concerns with your product. And you have still failed to respond to me. I get the feeling you simply can't justify your stand with my recent concerns. By all means, prove me wrong if you can. However, and I will not except any excuses such as "I've been busy, with alot of releases" this time. Had you been truly busy, a professional would have let me know ahead of time with their recent excessive work quota, or would have given the job of replying to my e-mail to a second associate to deal with. And if you were really busy--you still fail to act in a professional manner.

What will it be Madan? Can you answer my questions? or do I have to continue to boycott your product and your manipulative & disgraceful company?

To which he replied a.s.a.p. TODAY with a temper added to his e-mail, check this out:

Let us not even talk about professionalism here cause if you had even the slightest degree of professionalism, you would have called me and spoken with me rather than sending emails and expecting answers all the time. Come and meet me rather than talking stuff about my company. why dont you send me your number or something where i can reach you so i could talk to you and clarify all your doubts about my company becasue to me it appears that you have a personal grudge against my company more than anything else. let me
know your stand on that. call me and we can talk further. 201-558-9001 for your reference. if you chose to boycott my product is because you have a predetermined mindset to do so and not because i am going to answer your questions or not. i think you are the one who is manipulative here and not
my company my friend. You need to have respect for others and using foul language does not really demonstrate that. i hope i have answered your questions this time. these are answers to questions that you did not seek.

DVDCOLLECTOR, are you a hound dog? whats this obsession in trying to get this man to confess anything? I don't think so, he is a lot smarter than what you people are giving him credit for.

DVD_C you were a fool to expect any kind of response from those wankers (yeah-I-abused-them-so-curse-me) @ EROS.
They are a bunch of unprofessional jerks who care a damm abt quality or competency, cos they know that NON-zulm.net desis are a bunch of apathetic souls, so they can get away.

Rather than expect a change from outside, the change should come from within us, the whole concept of watching a film ("and-be-satisfied-with-it-as-I-have-a-regular-TV") with respect to the desis should change !...

Until then ( even as I hate to do this), discredit EROS at every forum, every space on this http://WWW...print or virtual media included !

A sales manager will have little to none power over to change anything in a company. Almost bottom of the food chain :-).

BTW, he is probably the nephew/son of the owner, how else would he get that job ? So when you have 100 % employment security why not have some attitude :-).

Prior to all this, I realized that. But I guess I wanted to even realize more of how much of a fool I actually am. And I'm not surprised, I am a fool for talking to a wall for the past 5 months or so.

can anyone prove / confirm even one store in the world that EROS has taken to court or closed down due to them stocking EROS'S pirates sorry pirates of orignals or orignals pirates damn i'm lost do EROS do such things as orignals :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

DVD_C you have one more alternative and that is to send your analysis (with proper proof) to some desi shows... and you may hope that they may air it. However, I dont think that would ever materlaize as these Desi shows, rely on film based content to get their revenue and you know which company gets the bulk of the films here in NA.

A final alternative would be the idea, once proposed by Sunny Audit wherein which he had suggsted doing a DVD analysis of DESI dvds on some channel. I think that never materialized (Sunny correct me if I am wrong). The best bet for you would be to send your comparison to some Hollywood DVD reviewers, (virtual or print) and u have a good chance of being heard there !

I am surprised mHafner..doesnt use his clout with widescreen review to Expose these Wankers @ EROS ... ! Hafner... you listening ? :D

Nothing if done politely. Asking the same questions over a period of 5 months is nothing less than stupidity, and yes I agree with you 100 percent your are a fool :p
