Well as everyone knows 2001 was one of the worst years for Srk but 2002 looks even worse. Last year he had the dismal failures of Asoka and One Two Ka Four weighing him down. This year he hasn't had a single release and he's already flopped (or the people behind the scenes have let him down) one two fronts: DVD and music....

1. DVD: anybody seen Srk's greatest (supposedly) in his career, DDLJ, the one that created records were probably shocked and horrified at the DVD release from Yashraj. This is one of the biggest DVD disappointments to come out since DVD was invented for Bollywood. DDLJ, an awesome film, deserved triple AAA treatment, instead Yashraj messes up badly. What were they thinking. Seeing the review on this forum, its damn right disgusting to treat a classic like this in this way. Apparently the menus are the highlight, crap interview by "maine bhi actor" Uday with father Yash who I hope isn't rubbing his nose every few minutes ala Kabhie Kabhi and Kaala Patthar interviews with Karan on the respective DVDs. The quality looks really crap. This is one film that should have definetely seen a DEI release but didn't.

2. MUSIC: anybody hear the music of Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, if you haven't DON'T, if you want the torture go to http://www.indiafm.com at your own risk. The songs are AWFUL. Its as if they are all stuck in a time warp and music has changed so drastically that they don't stand a chance. The lyrics are so inane its pathetic. They have employed about 4-5 lyricists and 2-3 music directors including if I read right Bappi Lahiri, anybody even remember this roly poly piece of ----, he came out with like 10 good songs in his entire career spanning some odd 15-20 years, thats right SONGS not films, and I think one of them wasn't even a song, it was a "theme" from Ghayal. Needless to say that he doesn't add "11" with this score. The thing is none of the songs are labeled with lyrics, and/or music director, I figure its because if you want to throw some gaalis at the man/men responsible you can't identify which twit was responsible. Seems like they want to go down together and haven't attached their names so they get more films. Well going down they are and taking Srk with them. BTW this movie is a K.C. Bokadia production which should automatically put it in the category "to avoid."

January has witnessed the downfall of Srk on these two fronts and the the year isn't even in its second month. Srk is getting better and better at this, last year One Two Ka Four didn't hit the marquee and the insults didn't start until April. Srk is 4 months early. In 2003 he will probably become a flop in the first week of January. At least he's setting a record at something I guess.

Firstly, I think your analogy is very badly discussed. You are comparing his 2001 box office status with his current film DVD release, the audio/CD release of his latest films.

1. SRK box office status of 2001: 2 flops, 1 super-hit. Other top bollywood stars, Amitabh Bachchan, 1 flop, 1 average, & 1 super-hit. Hrithik Roshan, 1 flop & 1 super hit. And fact is that, even though Ek Rishta did average to above average business at the box office, the film was pure shit, and SRK wasn't the only superstar floping in 2001.

2. DVD: DDLJ was a HUGE disappointment, but it doesn't mean it was the worst DVD ever made in it quality content, certainly NOT. But I do realize that it could have also been made into a highly superior product DVD. However, this DVD contians some very interesting extras, and by far, the best supplements provided for an Indian DVD to date. Mind you, part of a DVD experience is also suppose to feature some background information about the film through its supplements. And give credit to where its due, YRF DVDs are the best at it.

3. Audio/CD: agreed that HTHS music a bore :doze: but than again coming back to your comparing SRK box office status with the music qality of his current film (which i find ridiculous IMO), but if you so rightly think that he's will continue his flop streak. Than why neglect Amitabh Bachchan's path? He's been pretty much on the same level as SRK in 2001, and even now, the music of Anakhen stink as well. Even Salman Khan's Tum Ko Na Bhol Payange is another stinker.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is that, your point doesn't make any sense. So what if his film has flopped? both Aks & asoka were flops at the box office. But both films were good and both Amitabh Bachchan and SRK have given a great performance (espeically Amitabh). SO what if HTHS & Anakhen music stink? Aadesh Shrivastava & the various music directors of HTHS aren't even top music directors. It doesn't make a difference, the most awaited films of SRK in 2002 are Shakti & Devdas. As for Amitabh, its all his films unless if he too is gonna release one of his films that has been in the making for around 4 years (Zamaanat). It wouldn't make a difference if those films are flops, as long as there good in content. If there good in content and as well become a box office success, well that's even better, but i think as a public viewer of many films, i want a quality content film. Don't care too much about b.o. status.

I was just pointing out that the Srk in general has to be associated with his audio/DVD release and that they are both bad. DDLJ is a huge disappointment but its one of the best films period, if they had done it to any other Srk movie it wouldn't make a difference but this one....

HTHS is not going to rely on histronics ala Aankhen or even Kaante, its definetely one of "those" movies which has to have a musical score to suceed and if music is any indicator the movie's a flop.

Its not so much an analogy as an observation.
