I mean, come on, look at all the subtitles on Lagaan and Mohabbatein. Do we really need Spanish and French? (Malay, Arabic, English are fine) Why not Hindi subtitles? I think it would be great.

I'm so confused. The movies are in Hindi...so why *would* one include Hindi subtitles?

Do you mean, for deaf people? I suppose that's a thought...

it would be a good idea to maybe subtitle the songs in hindi so people can sing-a-long to the songs,im sure alot of the people mutter some of the words when the song is on and are saying it wrong.

Malay, Arabic, English are fine

That means he is speaking for the non-hindi speaking indians, am i anywhere correct? So that they can learn hindi better or something..

Exactly! Subtitles are very misused on Indian DVDs. The recent mess was on Bollywood Calling - its mostly an English spoken film with very few Hindi parts. But English subtitles will only appear on the Hindi speaking parts.

Subtitles serve many purposes; but are mainly used for translations purposes on Indian DVDs for English reading audiences. A thought must go for the deaf and hard of hearing, educational purposes and for those who watch them @ night that cant have the sound system blasting! :where:

Well, I was thinking more of a Closed Captioning type thing like in American movies. It's something I used when there's a lot of background noise, and when I don't want to put it too loud. I think it would be great on Hindi DVDs to put Hindi subtitles. It's for those learning Hindi, those who can read it and don't want to put the volume too loud, and for those that want to know absolutely every word they say.

BTW: RANJ, my intials are RNJ, and I like JBond, hence my name :)
