Thanks technogeek for emailing me the shots - unfortunately I can't access the FTP server either, seems to be is down :( So will upload them as soon the FTP starts working.

From what I've seen of the screen shots seems like OK transfer - anamorphic ~2.25:1 with decent colours and contrast. Looks much better than the Eros DVD;

It is done by Prasad and it has the parody song also. The sound is pseudo 5.1. The same sound comes from all speakers all the time.

Come on YRF, get with the program and give us proper DD 5.1 sound considering you want to charge an arm and a leg for your DVDs!!!!!!

Judging from this DVD, I did not realize that WalMart offers 1 hour telecine services.

Looks extremely dull. You shouldn't have to adjust your TV settings to watch a DVD!

that's easy to believe as i found even the ddlj dvd to be not only watchable, but bordering on "good". people, if you really love this movie and if you don't already have a version on dvd, i'd say buy this one since you're not gonna get a better one out of yrf (or anyone else) any time soon.

I'm part-way through Lamhe (YRF version rented from IW), at the designated "Intermission" point.

The picture quality (on a 32-inch analog Wega in anamorphic mode) is not bad in any noticeable way, but neither is it any great transfer either.

It certainly looks better than the images posted above in this thread, which would lead me to say that posted screen shots are not to be relied on. Remember that on the one hand, someone can improve screen shots through editing, and on the other hand, someone can post screen shots that are poorly captured that are not as good as the DVD. So, it seems to me that screen shots are not really any help at all.

The film is shot with a lot of "depth of focus", ie with the foreground performer in sharp focus, and the background somewhat out of focus. This lends itself to an impression "not a good transfer", up until you look at the foreground performer who looks just fine.

One has to be careful to make a distinction between what is in the transfer, and what is in the original film.

I have no idea what the original audio was like, so I can't judge that - other than to say that there are no problems (so far) with the audio, and the dialog and fine Lata vocals are clearly audible.

For people like me who only know a few words of Hindi, the presence of English subtitles for the songs is a particularly appreciated plus (something I sorely missed on Mughal-e-Azam).

My vote: 6.5/10 amongst all DVDs, or else 8/10 amongst Hindi DVDs.

there has GOT to be a better print, NOT to mention better audio :(

this is my MOST favourite film of all time from Bollywood...

watch Mausam instead, inspired from there, esp. the scene where Sanjeev Kumar pulls out the belongings of the mother to show her daughter
