Hello to everyone,
does anybody know if the disk will have the ghastly Ayngaran Logo popping oupvery 5 minutes?
I just bought Thiruda Thiruda and it is the worst and biggest Logo i have seen on DVD's so far.
Initially i thought they would use a semi transparent Text with their name but the giant white Logo is really distracting.
Which of their disks are affected?
Thanx,
Thomas

This DVD has transparent logo.

The large logo only appears on the following DVDs

Jeans,
Panchitaram,
Thiruda Thriuda,
VIP

There are a couple more but can't remember thier titles??

Hello Sunny,
Is Panchitaram an upcomming title?
There seems to be none at the DVD-List on the Ayngaran website.
If Panchathanthiram is meant that one only has an almost invisible, transparent text saying "ayngaran dvd", wich is okay.
That does not mean this is good, but bearable.
Didn't they say they would not put this LOGO stuff in their forthcomming films anymore. There has been a threat on this subject before.
Run must be a very recent transfer, how come they still put things in to the actual picture.
If they continue to do so, where do i get pirates of the new Logo-Improved titles.
I don't want to finance such stupiditys with my money.
So far i returned everything from Ayngaran that looked remotely like a pirate, something i would never do with a VideoSound title, but if they continue to do this, they are the same dreck like the Eros, VideoSound, Spark, etc. Muppets.
Greetings Thomas

hey guys just got RUN and saw it. Pretty good movie with some bone crunching action scenes. Who knew Maddy could throw punches just like Sunny!! The main heroine was kinda cute aswell. And the songs were excellent!!

Now I must warn that the DVD caps here don't exactly reflect how the video looks in real life! I saw the movie in the 16x9 squeeze mode, on a 4:3 Interlaced 53' TV, and was quite disappointed with edge enhancement and excessive compression artifacts. There weren't any jaggies which is good, but the mosquite-noise like effect (which looks like ALOT of grain, and tiny pixels) really got annoying after a while. The print was reasonable clean, and the colours were pretty vibrant, but I thought that the film was WAY TOO sharp - as can be seen by the grain. However this video is still above almost anything put out by Eros, Video Sound and Spark.

The sound as mentioned above kicks ASS, with lots of good directional effects (even from the surrounds) and some pretty deep bass.

The extras include trailers for an upcoming movie, and the film is subtitled even during the songs.

So all in all not a bad buy for $20 Cdn including tax. I hope Ayngaran gets to release more goodies in the near future.

The DVD does have grain but the cinema version had it too, so I premusing that it is the film was originally intented since it has come from the original 35mm print master. Director Lingusamy's pervious film Anandam had the same thing on cinema and DVD.

The sound is brill, I love the fx and score during the fight seqeunces!! The action director Peter Hain is already now working in Hindi cinema, like K. Kannan so expect Hindi film's action to get a whole lot better then the crap we have gotten from Tinu Verma, Mehendra Verma and Veeru Devgan these past three years!

bludhound, i bought it from ayngaran Canada in toronto, scarborough actually.

basically head east on Eglinton and make a u-turn on Midland ave. Just west of midland (on eglinton), you have to make a right on to a side street as some of the stores are located beside the bridge. you make a right on this street (also called Eglinton) and you should see Ayngaran in the plaza to your right. There's a bunch of south indian shops in the plaza. If you've gone under the bridge then you've gone too far.

Hi Sunny,

Just finished watching the movie. Must say I was quite disappointed as the entire film has a very 'grainy' look. Is it the DVD quality that is grainy? And why does the Ayngaran logo keep on poping up now and then? Do I have a pirate version?

Here's the Maddy Tamil movies that I can recommend:

Dum Dum Dum (w/ Jyotika): This was a good movie...great chemistry between the lead pair, and the story was a bit different too. I'm surprised there hasn't been a Hindi remake yet, but they'll probably do so with Fardeen Khan and a new heroine or something...lol.

Aliapayuthey: Excellent movie...especially for Maddy's debut film. You can tell he has that charisma onscreen from his first scene onwards.

Kannathil Muthamittal: I don't know how he does, but Ratnam always gets amazing performances out of his child artistes. This one had Maddy playing a more somber, older role, and he pulled it off quite well. Although, I think Simran is the one he pulled off the awards. This movie easily should've been the Oscar entrant over Devdas.

I haven't seen 'Run' yet, but I'm really looking forward to it. And, still haven't gotten around to Ennavale or Minnale (although I've seen Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein).

I watched 'RUN' and I have to say its excellent dvd. It has good contrast and the source material is clean. But it still has that washed out look ayngaran dvds as in the colors aren't as vibrant as they could be. But no doubt Ayngaran is setting the standard for good Indian dvds. The movie itself is average. Madhavan and the girl did a good job, but its still is an average love story. Fights were excellently coreographed and am I the only one to think JEEVA went a little over the top with his camera shaking. :oo:

Just rented this DVD yesterday. While the colors and contrast are pretty good, there are a lot of spots where the image is a little too grainy. I doubt this was stylistic, as it seems weird to me for a film like this to have a gritty grainy look, particularly during the songs. I noticed some moire pattern interference, and there is a little DVNR artifacting, but you would really have to look for it to bother you. The sound was alright, though I wish they had used sync sound to record it. Did anyone notice that the menus were 16:9 enhanced? They were letterboxed on my TV, so I switched the player to 16:9 mode, and the menus were stretched.

A preview for Kadhal Azhivathillai is included, and it looks like a really bad film.

Watching Run again, I can review the film a little better. The fight scenes were well done, but there really should be 2 or 3 more major fight scenes, and 1 or 2 of the songs should be cut. I hope they add more fight scenes to the Hindi remake. Meera Jasmine is ordinary looking, which is probably the point, but if Madhavan is to fall in love with her at first sight, a better looking heroine should have been chosen. Vivek's comedy track still made me laugh. Did anyone notice the parody of the ending scene in Moondram Pirai (Sadma) ?

I Did Not Have This Problem. You may have A pirate. :hmm:

I Thought This Film Was Wonderful, And So Was The Transfer. Ayngaran Usually Does A Very Good Job. :D

An "Ayngaran DVD" logo does pop up during the songs.
