Aandhi (DEI) that had so many breaks and freezes up at the last half of the movie.

IW replaced me with another copy. which played without a single break.

Chupke Chupke (DEI) that froze and played the last half of the movie. Played it second time in a day or so, played smooothly...

Have no understanding of what is happening or why it happens so irregularly. Have SOME DEI titles haven't opened yet. Guess i will have to keep my hands crossed for those... what you guys say?

I too was having problem with lots of dvd and went ahead and bought second dvd player (Apex AD800) which has become fairly cheap and was recommended to me by another forum member (sknath). This sucker plays everything under the sun. It is such a pleasure to watch movies without any hitch.

Shuman,
If you don’t mind browsing through the DVD (only if you watched the movie before in theater or on Tape), I would advise you go through all the chapter breaks to see if every thing alright. That way you can exchange them before it is too late.

what is the significance with the chapter breaks, does the problematic dvds freezes at the beginning of / at the end of chapter?? if so, that definitely a good idea to deter a dvd with problems. the dvds that i have sealed are (ghulam-e-mushtafa, muqaddar ka sikandar, sharmilee, akele hum akele tum, alaap, sharaabi, satya...). lets see how it goes.. :plain:

Shuman,
While there is no guarantee about the absence of problems during chapter runs, testing at the chapter stops gives some idea about the major disk problems. If the problem continues over a chapter, it indicates a major problem and must be replaced.

I received Chupke Chupke (DEI) on the 13th of January and I played it today for the first time and it froze when the song Bagho Mein Yeh Phool ended. I skipped to the song Abke Saajan Saawan Mein and it froze while playing that song. I skipped to the chapter after that and it played for a little while normally, except for one or two frames of pixellation. Then it froze completely. This is a brand new disc. Surely it couldn't have rotted in 3 days. It is on silver media. Is this a title lots of people are having problems with?

The first time it froze, I stopped it and went to the menu and played the chapter after Bagho Mein Yeh Phool, but it froze on the menu screen. My Sony player flashed C 13 00, which I think means "clean disk," but I'd have to check to know for sure. After it froze on the menu, I ejected the disc, but the menu still persisted on the TV screen! I tried again, but when it froze during Abke Saajan Sawan Mein, after ejecting it, the frame from where it froze could still be seen. I've never seen anything like this!

Yes, I think 'Lekin' should get the 'Worst DVD ever made' Award and it would win without a problem. Its the worst transfer and all those beautiful Lata songs are murdered through the use of mono. And this is a movie from the 90s! Any idea how the DVD for Rudaali looks?

Dragun,
Sorry to hear about your problem. But If you are having problem from the day one, just return it and get another one as cleaning won't do any good with the disk.

The disc is immaculate. I opened the seal and put the disc straight into the player. I had no problem playing a few American discs and DEI Koshish. I tried Chupke Chupke again and it still did it. I'm going to exchange it for a different copy.
