Ultra VCDs are very common especially in Indian and Pakistan. Some of Yash Raj Films are distributed by Ultra in India too - but VCD and VHS only - this is first DVD I've seen from them.

Makdee screen shots - thanks as usual to Arsh;

DVD by Ultra; anamorphic @1.90:1, good colours although not as good at the ones on the trailer – Eros type of transfer with better colours;

Menus;

Not only is it annoying, it is totally unacceptable in my opinion. Write in to Ultra and let them know we will not tolerate this.

I agree, sanjay, but who will listen?, I sent e.mails to shemaroo, no luck..for any reply, u being in india cn have phone contact easy!? may be.

BTW!! to more observations on MUKDEE!!

As u can see, presentation is cropped, contrast is very poor, colors are mind boggling, saw the whole film...

reason: telecine done by shemaroo video, if they r authors too/ don know.

Film orig only made as dolby surround, from credits..limited resources, while dvd shows pseudo flags of 5.1 DD, but actually, has only front 3 channels active, so Dolby surround or pseudo DD, 5.1, damn!! digitally enhanced sound..my foot!!

just compare this to dei's ghatak dolby surround, much better than most 5.1s!!

finally on the film, :
different genre..must watch, photography is good, music is uninspiring, compared to chota chetan!

my younger one, 7 yrs old, got scred, from makdee amaa!
older one, 12 yrs, sid, very little fun...

so if u looking for more fun for kids? this holiday season, besidesMukdee, buy STUART LITTLE 2, by CT, a real candy to your eys, and sure to please the whole family.
second one, is woith older boys, LIKE MIKE, is a lot of fun,

both come in dual version, widescreen/stad presentation...Enjoy the shows..

I saw the film in the theater and the film had a pretty decent Dolby SR track. Also what I am confused by is the fact that in the theater the film was in non anamorphic (flat) 35mm with an aspect ratio of a 1.37:1, so the DVD presentation is really puzzling.
By the way if Dolby SR is done well, then it really is not that bad, infact it can be quite good. There are numerous English DVDs with Dolby Surround with far superior sound than a lot of Indian DVDs with Dolby Digital. Infact even the Pirated, Dolby Surround DVD of 'Aa Ab Laut Chale' is far better than a lot of the crap put out by the likes of Video Sound.
