Should answer your question !

Let me get something straight:

480p(30) is ONLY for DVDs of 30fps video and film sources (such as some Todd-AO films) and 480p is for all 24fps film/video sources (such as DEI's DVDs and Star Wars Episode II). Correct? Or are the 6 extra frames sometimes added to 24fps sourced-DVDs?

and the site says,

Quote:
When progressive scan content that originates from film is stored on a DVD disc it can be called a 480P(24) title, which means that the MPEG-2 video has been encoded as 480 line progressive scan material, with a frame rate of 24 frames per second.

On progressive DVDs, each frame of the 24 frames per second is stored as two fields, right? But the above quote implies that each frame is stored as a whole frame.

Dragun or even for your Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam DVd from DEI... Check the frame rate (if you have it )

Hi guys

Can someone please tell us the following about Devdas DVD:

How is the audio?

What is the extra footage? I had heard that in India (I'am from Canada) there was 20-30 minutes extra footage and more scenes on the development of Devdas-Chandramukhi relationship. Does the DVD contain this?

Is the 2nd Disc same as the curtain-raiser of Devdas that was released few months ago?

Thanks in advance

Suresh :kungfu:

I don't have SBAG, but I have other DEI DVDs and they take 24 presses of the frame advance button to get to the next frame.

REGARDING AUDIO: lols..DD 5.1, GOOD AMBIENCE, seperation of CHANNELS, BUT a BIT TOO BRIGHT to my taste!

I prefered ROAD audio encoding over this though! but much better than what I experienced in THEATRE!

The extra footage is not as extensive as one would like to think. I've found a few new scenes and cuts within the film; as well, in some sections, the background music differs from the theatrical pirate I have. Although there must be more, I seriously doubt that there is more than a few minutes added, let alone 20 or 30!

As for the special features disc, it's an utter piece of crap. The only new footage is that of the Mumbai premiere and the film at Cannes, which is not that great. The documentaries are pure fluff, trying to get us to buy/watch a movie we already own. Everything else is copied from the Curtain Raiser. As well, we get "the best scenes of Shahrukh, Aish and Madhuri", but it's an total waste of space. It's simply a few scenes from different films that have nothing to do with DEVDAS.

This is a pathetic excuse for a "Signature Series" 2-disc edition. If any of you can, try to get the first disc only, or the entire set used for a much lower price. I paid $45 Can for this disaster of a set. I would return it, but I can't live with the crappier pirate version. Video quality is dull and flawed, but still decent quality for EROS (I wasn't expecting much better folks).

An utter dissapointment.

For those wondering, the DVD does include the full-length feature with scenes not seen in the theatre.

yo the guy's on here fucking goin on about force weave or 24bps or audio bollocks do u have the top of the range home cinema set up or just a fucking normal widescreen tv with a budget to mid range dvd player ???

i suspect like most of us on here we all have the avg set up and for that reason alone i think this dvd is suitable considering EROS THE NEW MOTHERFUCKERS OF INDIAN DVDS past track record they have always created dvds for the avg set up i mean how many motherfuckers on here have got a set up well in access of around £20k no one i should think !!!

the only person who has any right to be pissed off at this dvd is GEROGE LUCAS because if he brought to watch on his SYSTEM he would be well and truly fucked !!!

maybe its time G.W.BUSH asked the UN to send in dvd inspectors to check on EROS dvd manufacturing plant !!!

Check the synopsis on the back of the box cover:

"Devdas is a saga of a man, who loved, loved and jusy loved."

Wow, what effort!
