The primary question: What is the difference between audio cd bought from the market and audio cd recorded on CD-R disk by CD-RW drive in a computer?

Here are the different scenerios:

1. I have a cd player (Sony - 3 cd changer) which plays the normal audio cd (readily available from stores) and the audio cd recorded on CD-R disk. It does not recognize the audio cd recorded on CD-RW disk.

2. I have a dvd player (Sony - 5 dvd changer) which plays the normal audio cd (readily available from stores) and audio cd recorded on CD-RW disk. It does not recognize the audio cd recorded on CD-R disk.

What could be the reasons?

CD-R and CD-RW are 2 different medias (physical objects).

CD players may or may not recognize CD-R or CD-RW. CD-R or CD-RW copies may have an exact same digital data, it doesn't help if the player can't recognize the object inserted in the slot. For example, if the CD player was manufactured before CD-R or CD-RW formats came about. Or may be the player manufacturer doesn't/ didn't endorse the CD-R or CD-RW formats. Currently all companies (because of competition) make CD-R, CD-RW compatible players. Piracy conscious companies consider MP-3 type formats as villains now.

And, oh yes, Sony opposed these CD-R and CD-RW formats, to be used for Audio CDs, tooth and nail. Only, under stiff competition, they are now making their players compatible to these copying formats.

Are you talking about Sony DVD players? The first models had two lasers, one for DVD and one for CD, which meant that they could read CD-Rs. After awhile, they started making single laser players which could play DVDs and CDs, but not CD-Rs. They continued making dual laser players though.
