Hi - I started buying from IW based on glowing reports in these forums, so I'm hoping someone here can clarify (or share their experience with) IW's exchange policy.

My brother bought me Dil Chahta Hai (among others) from them - DCH is messed up, skips forward at 1:14. I've e-mailed them but as of yet received no response. The receipt says I can return "unopened" DVDs within a couple of weeks, but really! there must be some avenue to exchange malfunctioning, flawed merchandise. They also charged my brother international shipping because he ordered the DVDs from London, even though he had them *delivered* to CALIFORNIA!! I am very disappointed... am hoping this is all just a freak mistake, a result of the busy holiday season, etc.. Any reassurance out there?

On the subject of dil Chahta hai, my sister bought the Dvd from the local video centre. She had trouble playing it (chapeter 14) on her dvd player so she tried to return it at the shop. The store owner played on his player and it worked fine, so he refused to take it back, saying it is not faulty. Can anything be done about this, if the disc is not actually faulty but only works on some players.

hi simran,
IW is very good on exchanges for defective dvd.
i have exchanged 3 so far. Afzal is very fair and give you
no hassle, but i do admit they take a little while to respond
not unsual considering their large customer base just be
patient afzal will answer your mail. their shipping charges
however is not refundable and you do have to pay for the
return. This is the only flaw i found with them they need to
review this not only for returns but for purchases. hate to
mention other sites that do better than them, but there
are many.

Hi Bash. My sister got a Samsung. On my brother's PS2 the disc stops working at chapter 14 and on my Hewlett Packard PC the disc jumps from the end of chapter 13 straight to 15, missing out 14 altogether.

DVD Preview of DCH

There is a problem with DCH DVD which effects certain DVD players (there’s a link to a forums thread on the above preview) - retailers will shift blame onto the DVD player while DVD player manufacturers will blame the problem on a defect DVD - the buyer is left in the middle running around. They was similar problem with Mohabbatein DVD too.

IW are usually really good for exchanges; they recently sent me two incorrect DVD. I emailed and told them about it – they sent them out next day and I received them today – AAKR being one of them. That’s without sending the incorrect ones back (yet :0 ).

If you’ve been charged international shipping when they only shipped to USA – then you should get a refund. Confusion probably arose as you’re brother is based in UK and there’s a problem the way IW handles this sort of order – their online ordering system charges shipping by whatever details you enter on the first form (personal/billing) and not from the second (shipping). Bug me reckons! Tell them so :wot:

Another thing to note is – if the DCH disc is at fault (which is probably the case and effect all discs) – there’s no point in getting a replacement as the replacement wont work either. Might be better of asking for a full refund.

Ali :bored:

Hey simran, Kavita..

I own DCH which i bought from IW. Dont' know which chapter though, but it did skip/freezes at the scene where Aamir gets slapped.

This is when i use my PS2(which i will get rid off soon :baaa: ), However when i played on my PC-DVD Rom, it worked FINE. I even played on my sister-in-laws SONY DVD, it played FINE too.

If you enjoyed the movie, you may want to reconsider about getting better DVD Player, than of returning the DVD back. Most likely you will get more of this problem in your future DVDs. :)

LOL! I was going say in that post maybe I get favourable treatment - the AAKR screw-up did turn up via Global Priority post and another DVD before that turned up via Global Priority cos it missed initial post - so does this happen to anyone else or just me?

Hey if all else fails claim to be owner of some dodgy review site like zulm.net :p

Ali
ps I’ve never got one free DVD from any one of the authors or retailers – not that I’ve ever asked! :wot:

kavita, the samsungs are prone to problems- mine used to give me problems with allsorts of dvds but now swapping it to a phillips has solved a lot of these. I am surprised at the playstation though it has played a lot of scratched discs I have thrown at it. maybe it is the disc itself then :(

good; it was me who first said anything about the samsung.

anyhow bash, i dont think they are willing to invest on a different dvd player. rather, they will purchase dvds and watch them and return. in another word watch for free.

who wouldn't!! i know i would if i could stand the interruptions in-between movies. but sucks i can't, so am getting a sony dvd soon.

I don't think this DCH dvd problem is limited to "cheap" DVDs. My DVD player is brand new and top of the line.

In other words, don't hold yr breath abt Sony... sigh...
